In Kindergarten,
We will be learning about technology at home and school through our Benchmark curriculum. We will continue to practice our reading and writing using CVC words. We will also be working on all of the K sight words . In math we will continue to work with addition and subtraction using word problems and related facts. Our science unit will be Earth.

First grade finished off the year with an exciting trip to the Environmental Studies Center. We learned all about manatees. This month we will start learning how to become stronger readers and writers. In math, we will continue to learn about place value. In science, we are learning about fast and slow changes to the Earth. We are excited about the new year!
2nd Grade
ELA vowel consonant e patterns, main idea, opinion writing
Math shapes and fractions, then time and money
SCI earth’s surface and extreme weather
Third grade is back in a nonfiction reading unit, learning about how technology has changed lives, and writing an opinion essay. For Math, we are adding and subtracting numbers in the thousands. Science is all about matter and Social Studies continues to focus on The US and our neighbors.
4th grade:
Math Topic : Topic 8 introduces the idea of creating equivalent fractions and putting fractions in various sequences.
Science Unit : Earth’s Features: Students will learn about composition and structure of Earth’s surfaces.
ELA Unit 5: Unit 5 focuses on Informational Text and exploring Technology For Tomorrow. Text Structure, Central Idea and Author's Claim will be examined. For writing we are focusing on Expository Prompts.
Social Studies: We will focus on Early Settlements in Florida.
Fifth grade is working hard at growing our vocabulary in all subjects. In reading, we are working on Unit 5 in Benchmark which is focused on nonfiction texts about technology and its impact on society. Students are developing opinion essays around the topic. In science, student have completed their science fair boards and are continuing to learn about Forces and Changes in Motion. In math, students are learning about fractions. We are currently discovering how to create common denominators so we can add and subtract equivalent fractions. Then, we will be ready to rock multiplying and dividing fractions.
