ARLINGTON HEIGHTS ALL-STAR STUDENT ATHLETES
For months District 25 staff, parents, and students have been practicing and preparing for the Special Olympics Spring Games of Track and Field. At this meeting, the Board of Education recognized and celebrated the athletes and coaches getting set to represent the District.

STATE TOURNAMENT QUALIFYING WRESTLERS | THOMAS MIDDLE SCHOOL
The Board recognized and celebrated the following athletes who qualified for the state wrestling tournament.
Wrestlers: Tony Klikas, Owen Pham, Frank Tagoe
Coaches: Mike Damico, Ben Hamilton, and volunteer coach, School Resource Officer, Danny Malik.

Extension of Bus Transportation Contract
That the Board of Education approve the Extension of the Bus Transportation Contract with Cook County School Bus Co for 2022-2023.
The Cook County School Bus Company increased compensation for their drivers in order to attract drivers. The Cook County School Bus Company has also experienced other increases as well (insurance, maintenance, etc.). Because of those increases, the District recommended this contract that shows an increase cost of 12%.

2022-2023 Student Fees
That the Board of Education approve the 2022-23 student fees as presented.
At last month's meeting, Assistant Superintendent of Business/CSBO, Stacey Mallek, presented the Board with proposed 2022-23 student fees. The only items Mrs. Mallek updated since then were the materials sold to families such as the gym shirt, gym shorts, and graduation fee. Because of the current state of the pandemic and economy, vendors were unwilling to quote the District pricing on these items and the updated pricing reflects an estimate by the District for next year.

MUSIC FOR YOUTH CONTRACT
Assistant Superintendent of Business/CSBO, Stacey Mallek, presented the Board with a 3 year contract with Music for Youth (MFY). The District covers roughly 42% of the program and tuition paid by the participants covers roughly 58% of the program. The annual increase throughout the potential agreement with MFY aligns with the Consumer Price Index (CPI).
MFY is a stringed instrument program that has been partially funded by the District for over 40 years, and it is available for all k-8 students who wish to learn more about music and enhance their music skills.

Superintendent, Dr. Lori Bein, updated the Board on some Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests from the public. Those include:
- Jeff Van Buren requested information on communications regarding the mask mandate lawsuit; a response was provided on March 14, 2022.
- Jairo Gomez, Chicagoland Laborer’s District Council requested information on the 2022 Capital Improvements Bid Results; a response was provided on March 15, 2022.
- Gerardo Mendez, Indiana, Illinois and Iowa Foundation for Fair Contracting requested information on the 2022 Capital Improvements Bid Results; a response was provided on March 15, 2022.
- Preston Dedi, Chicagoland Construction requested information on the 2022 Capital Improvements Bid Results; a response was provided on March 15, 2022.

BOARD MEETING STRUCTURE UPDATE
Superintendent, Dr. Lori Bein, brought two topics involving Board meeting structure to the Board to discuss:
- Electronic Public Comments
The Board decided to no longer offer the submission of public comment via a google form. The Board can be reached outside of Board Meeting hours by emailing boardfeedback@sd25.org. - Board Policy Committee
Dr. Bein let the Board know that once the committee assignments are made, she would generate some possible meeting dates and reach out to those members to see if those dates work.

DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNICATIONS UPDATE
District 25's Department of Communications, Adam Harris, updated the Board of Education on four topics:
- New District 25 logo & colors
- Upcoming new website template
- Social Media analysis and statistics for the year - engagement via Facebook and Twitter and an update on the brand new Instagram account
- New content themes from this year (D25 Features Videos, Consistent District 25 Dish)

The Board hosts two public comment opportunities on their agenda: 1) at the beginning of the meeting, prior to any agenda items, 2) at the end of the meeting after the agenda items have been discussed/presented.
