Erin's Law Presentation
The South Carolina Legislature passed legislation in 2014 known as Erin’s Law. This law requires that South Carolina school districts extend their current mandated educational programs regarding personal safety, abuse education and prevention curriculum to students in pre-kindergarten through twelfth grades. The goal of the law is to teach children to avoid situations that may lead to abuse and to report any instances of abuse they may have endured. The intent of the law is to give students skills in knowing how to stay safe from sexual assault and how to report any incidents of sexual assault.
To assist teachers with presenting Erin’s Law, we have asked a representative from the Durant Children's Center to speak with our students during the upcoming school week. This representative will visit each classroom within our building to meet with each class of students. Teachers will be present in their classrooms during this presentation from the Durant Children's Center's presenter.
If you have any questions regarding the Erin’s Law presentation, please contact our guidance counselor, Melanie Sprenger at 843-664-8156.

From the Desk of Glenda Skipper: Family & Community Engagement Liaison
National Human Trafficking Awareness Day is observed each year on Wednesday, January 11th, and in recognition, everyone is asked to wear blue on that day to support students in continuing to be safe online.
"Prevention through education is easier than rescue," said Skipper. The January 11th event will include a social media campaign called #WearBlueDay. To raise awareness of human trafficking, participants are invited to take photos (of themselves, friends, family, and colleagues in blue attire) and share them on social media, along with the #WearBlueDay hashtag. To learn more, visit #WearBlueDay.
