Support kids like Emerson's own Lincoln Kelley!
Heart month has a different meaning for us. Lincoln was born with a congenital heartdefect, truncus arteriosus. He had open heartsurgery at 1 day old, at 6 months old, this past December he had open heart surgery number 3 and because of a tear in his valve, needed a 4th open heart surgery five days later. He now has a mechanical valve and needs to be on blood thinners for the rest of his life but that won't stop this boy who lives life to the absolute fullest! Supporting the American heart association, helps provide support for kids like Lincoln!

6TH GRADE TO STONY CREEK NATURE CENTER
Our sixth-grade classes went to Stony Creek Nature Center to learn about survival skills. The students learned the basics of what to do in an outdoor survival situation. The students practiced basic knots used in survival. We got to practice our new skills and went outdoors. The student were divided into groups and used these same knots to construct a pole sled (travois) large enough to ride on and then transform into a shelter. It was a beautiful day at Stony Creek!

O'Merai Puttman
O’Merai is in Mrs. Strahan 3rd grade class this year and is a Pawsome Emerson student. He is a hard worker and always comes to group ready to learn. He has adjusted to the new routines and expectations in my room phenomenally. He asks questions when he needs help and continues to show growth. In a short time, I have seen his reading, writing, and math skills improve. Keep up the good work O’Merai!!
