Welcome to the 2023-2024 School Year
Welcome to the 23-24 school year! We hope everyone had a fun, relaxing, and rejuvenating summer break and that you are prepared for a thrilling new year of learning and discovery! As the proud leaders of Lisbon Elementary School, we are fondly looking forward to another year of collaboration with our entire LES school community. We welcome and value your continuous support to all of our students and staff. We are truly privileged to be your leaders and fortunate to have such a kind and generous school community.
We want to give a warm LES welcome to all of our new families and students. We are thrilled to have you join our Lisbon school community. What a great opportunity to build new relationships with new faces! We all have the power to build meaningful relationships with one another, whether it be student to student, student to teacher, parent to teacher, teacher to parent, parent to administrator, administrator to teacher, administrator to student, parent to parent, family to family. Every school year is about connecting and reconnecting with others. Relationships and being able to support one another are what helps make a school a climate of belonging and opportunity. We want all of our students and families to experience belonging at LES. Our students deserve our very best at Lisbon, and we need to continue to work with every child to help reach their fullest potential. We all need to respect and seek to understand one another as individuals, as students, staff, parents, administrators.
Whether you are an educator, student, or parent, we are all thinking about what the new school year might bring. We encourage you to stay engaged in your child’s education and committed to ensuring that your child attends school on a regular basis. Chronic absenteeism has doubled in nearly every state since the pandemic. It is worsening every year. Our HCPSS recent data has shown that chronic absenteeism is also a concern on a local level. As school leaders, we are asking for you to partner with us to support our students and ensure they come to school every day. Our students are coming out of several years of challenges and obstacles. They need to be present to learn and to grow. Please help us create a culture of showing up each and every day for our students. They are going to need all of our support as we move forward in this school year.
Please rest assured that we’ve spent the summer working to get all of these essential things ready at Lisbon Elementary School:
- Our skilled, compassionate, and dedicated staff are already planning for the arrival of your children.
- Our friendly, resourceful, and helpful office staff have been busy welcoming and registering new families and students.
- Our hard-working, tireless, devoted building service staff have spent countless hours thoroughly cleaning our beautiful school.
- Our amazing, supportive PTA has been gearing up to welcome seasoned and new families, providing volunteer opportunities to all interested, and gearing up to offer many other exciting PTA sponsored events throughout the school year.
We are completely committed to providing each of our students and their families with a positive, collaborative school community. We ask you to join us in supporting all of the students and promoting academic growth and excellence and healthy social emotional well-being.
As your administrative team, we look forward to seeing and meeting you all at the New Families Orientation and Open House Events as well as Back to School grade-level events. Thank you to all who have helped in preparing for this new school year. Your dedication to our LES school community is beyond words. We look forward to connecting and building relationships with all of you and being inspired by your children and energized by their growth and learning.
Go Lions!!
Respectfully,
Debra Anoff, Proud Principal of LES
Bradley Scobie, Proud Assistant Principal of LES

There is no supervision of students before 9:05 a.m.
Kindergarten Students: All Kindergarten students will be met at the front main doors and hallways. Kindergarten students only will be gathered in the cafeteria and will be escorted to their classroom together with their teacher for the first three days of school.
Bus Riders: It is very important to put your child on the bus on the first day. Students who ride buses will have their bus number tagged onto their backpack with a wristband strip.
Please leave the bus tag on their backpack. This helps us help students get on their buses in the afternoon throughout the school year. Additionally, students in Kindergarten will have a luggage tag attached to their backpack. The luggage tag helps bus drivers know which students are Kindergarten students so they can help them situate on the bus in the morning and get off the bus in the afternoon at the correct bus stop.Lisbon Arrival and Dismissal Procedures and Times
Students can begin to enter the building at 9:05 a.m. and the late bell rings at 9:15 a.m. Students must remain in their cars with parents until a staff member is present on duty in the car loop at 9:05 a.m. Breakfast is optional and available for purchase (may be at a free/reduced price - see information below about how to apply for free or reduced meals). Students will be provided adequate time to eat breakfast. Students are dismissed at 3:45 p.m.
Car Loop Arrival and Dismissal Guidelines
Welcome to another school year at Lisbon Elementary School. In an effort to make the drop off and pick up of students flow as smoothly and safely as possible, we have the following guidelines. We would appreciate your adherence as a consideration to others:
1. When entering the loop, please drive all the way forward. You do not need to wait until you are at the front of the line to allow your child out of the car – we can unload 3-4 cars at one time.
2. Please DO NOT PASS another vehicle while in the carpool line unless directed to do so by a staff member. It is extremely dangerous for vehicles to pull around other vehicles. We appreciate your patience.
3. Please DO NOT LEAVE YOUR CAR UNATTENDED EITHER FOR ARRIVAL OR DISMISSAL. If you need to get out of your car, you should park your car in the overflow lot and walk your child over to the school. Please kiss your children and give them their backpack and lunch boxes before you get into your car at home. The drop off loop needs to run safely and efficiently, therefore, take care of good-byes and last minute issues ahead of time.
4. Students should only be dropped off & picked up curbside. Please do not allow your children to exit or enter the vehicle on the driver’s side. Students are not permitted to walk across the carloop without a staff member to meet you on the other side.
5. Please do not back up or do a “U turn” at the entrance to the loop.
6. Exit by driving straight out of the loop to either Church Alley or Rte. 144. DO NOT drive thru the bus lanes.
7. Parents with handicapped students should park in the designated handicapped parking spaces if the student needs assistance entering or exiting the car.
8. For the safety of our students, please do NOT drop them off prior to 9:05 a.m.

Welcome and Parent Orientation to the Gifted and Talented Education Program
Welcome to our returning and new families. Mrs. O’Connor and Mr. Nath, G/T Resource Teachers, are looking forward to a great school year with your children!
LES Master Schedule 2023-2024
Related Arts and the Color Calendar Schedule
Students participate in Related Arts daily for one hour. There are five related arts classes: Art, Media, Music, Physical Education, and Technology. The rotating schedule is called the Related Arts Color Calendar. We rotate days using the color calendar because there are a disproportional number of days off on Mondays and Fridays. This used to mean students would have up to 6 fewer Monday or Friday related arts versus the other classes and days of the week. Your child's teacher will share their specific color calendar schedule with you and your child. You can refer to the color calendar below. It is very important to make sure your child dresses appropriately for the classes he/she has for related arts, especially for physical education
School Supply List
Please find our K-5 grade level supply list here for the 2023-2024 school year! Families may recycle and reuse your previous year's supplies when possible.
Elementary Student Cell-Phone Usage Policy
Families are reminded that students must abide by Board of Education Policy 8080 Responsible Use of Technology, Digital Tools, and Social Media, and specifically Standard E. Student Use-Technology, which states that “HCPSS permits students to bring personal technology devices to school, according to the following rules:
Elementary Schools – Students will keep personal technology devices in backpacks during the school day, unless otherwise authorized by school administrators or instructional staff.New! Student Meals & Payments
New for the 2023-24 school year, HCPSS no longer will use Nutrislice for school menus or MySchoolBucks for payment. Instead, we have a new parent site for all things food and nutrition. LINQ Connect is a secure, online portal that allows families to make online payments to their child’s meal account, monitor their child’s account, schedule automatic recurring payments, set up low balance alerts, submit a Free and Reduced Meals program application, and more.
Free and Reduced Meals - check your eligibility today!
Students whose families do not qualify for free or reduced lunch will be required to pay the daily meal price. Many HCPSS families are eligible to participate in the Free and Reduced Price Meals (FARMs) program, which provides children with a wide range of benefits including free or discounted college tuition, testing and application fees, academic and athletic program fees, and many others in addition to free or discounted meals. Families are urged to check their eligibility and complete a FARMs application as soon as possible. Families must submit a new application every school year. Details on the Free and Reduced Meals program, including a link to apply, are available online.
