Mattos Family Update

Fall Festival- This Saturday!
Dear Mattos Families,
Our annual Fall Festival is this Saturday! I want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has donated toward the amazing raffle baskets and silent auction items, bags of candy and other non-candy items, and volunteers for their time and energy to make this event happen. It is sure to be a success!
On Tuesday, October 31st, students are welcome to wear their Halloween costumes to school for our "Community Walk". Costumes must be appropriate for school. Absolutely no weapons, fake blood, or fake guts allowed. Masks can only be worn during the walk. Teachers will let families know if students can remain in costumes for the rest of the day or not. If you would like to watch our "walk", please arrive between 8:30 and 8:45 a.m. at the gate to the left of the school. You will need to quickly sign in as a visitor on campus. Visitors will need to remain in the areas marked off for visitors to watch the "walk." More info to come in a future post on Parent Square about where parents/guardians can stand for the walk.

Attendance Matters
It’s a myth that only unexcused absences are causes for concern. Health-related absences may be marked as excused, yet time away from the classroom is a lost opportunity to learn and make connections. There are steps families and schools can take to try to limit health-related absences. We worked with a number of national health organizations on guidance that clearly communicates that students can attend with minor illnesses, and discusses when kids should stay home and seek advice from a health provider. For guidance as to when to keep your child home, please see Health Guidance for Going to School.
