Regarding i-Ready/MyPath
February 8th, 2023
Good Afternoon,
Throughout the course of this year, we have been using a program called i-Ready and MyPath. i-Ready allows your child’s teacher(s) to meet your student exactly where they are and provides data to increase your student’s learning gains.
i-Ready consists of two parts:
Diagnostic: The i-Ready Diagnostic is an adaptive assessment that adjusts its questions to suit your student’s needs. Each item a student sees is individualized based on their answer to the previous question. For example, a series of correct answers will result in slightly harder questions, while a series of incorrect answers will yield slightly easier questions. The diagnostic is administered at school and should never be taken at home.
Personalization (MyPath): i-Ready Personalized Instruction provides students with lessons based on their individual skill levels and needs, so your student can learn at a pace that is just right for them. These lessons are fun and interactive to keep your student engaged as they learn.
Our staff analyzes data from the diagnostic to provide targeted instruction. We use i-Ready to monitor student progress throughout the year and ensure each student's individual growth.
You may see that your student might be assigned MyPath as part of their homework in math. Since each student's work is determined by their diagnostic to support their individualized growth it is imperative that each student works on this without parental help or intervention. This will allow their teacher to follow the student’s data and for that data not to be skewed by parental help during the time they are using MyPath. Students should not exceed more than 15 minutes a day at home while on MyPath. Overuse can reduce the program's effectiveness.
Sincerely,
Mr. Lamothe
