A Note from our School Nurse
All Hands on Deck
My daughter graduated in May 2020. Covid upended our world in March 2020. I had decided to do University tours her junior year because I knew that her Senior year was going to be phenomenally busy with prom, sports, paperwork for college, SAT exam, scholarship applications, award and graduation ceremonies and a graduation trip. Needless to say, my daughter and her family did not fully get to celebrate her rite of passage her Senior year. She had maybe 10 minutes with us on an empty stage and theater taking graduation pictures. Some students were not able to pick up their awards because they were close contacts or they were positive for Covid-19. The town parade was a moment that made me so proud of being part of this community because for that brief moment, we were celebrating our graduating kids.
Here we are 2021, still struggling with the same issues of our students missing school, sports and events because of being a close contact and or being positive for Covid-19.
Events are around the corner again such as graduation, college tours, holiday trips, family visits and sport championships for boroughs or State. Right now our local Safeway is providing vaccination against Covid-19 for free with or without insurance. Let’s all work together to fight Covid-19 and not miss anymore celebrations.

Cooper Landing School Updates
Universal Masking
It’s important to keep as many people attending school in person, so as an added safety measure, our school will join several other KPBSD schools, and begin universal masking on Monday, October 4, 2021. This will help slow in-school exposure to COVID-19, and keep students in school without a need to quarantine if they are exposed to someone who is positive for COVID-19.* Factors that impact this decision include positive COVID-19 cases in schools; the number of identified close contacts who need to quarantine; absenteeism rates; high community transmission; and local health care capacity.
Cooper Landing School will require face coverings for all students and staff while indoors at school, beginning Monday, October 4, 2021. This will be reevaluated on Friday, October 15, 2021.
No School on October 15th
October 15th is a staff in-service day so there will be no school. It is also the end of the first quarter.
Volunteers / Background Checks
If you wish to participate in any field trips or volunteer activities, you must complete the online application which includes consenting to a background check. This is an annual requirement. Navigate to this page to complete the application.

Parents: If you have not been on Power School to fill out your student's 'Back to School Forms'
Please be sure to do that ASAP. If you have never logged into Power School, you will need to create an account. Here is a link to the forms and instructions: https://www.kpbsd.k12.ak.us/students_parents.aspx?id=39221
We still do not have a Food Service Manager, so there is no meal service at this time.
Students should come to school with food for am snack time and lunch.
Also each student should have a water bottle, to avoid frequent trips to the fountain.
There are currently two job opportunities at Moose Pass School.
The first opportunity is a 2 hr. per day Food Service Manager Position and the second is a 4 hr. per day Custodial position.
There is the possibility of combining the two positions and having a 6 hr. per day position.
We are looking for positive, hardworking applicants who love working with kids and want to be a part of a fabulous team of educators and education support professionals.
Apply today, or share these links with somebody you think would be interested in these opportunities.
