MCES WEEKLY TOP FIVE FOR PARENTS
UPDATES FOR THE WEEK OF September 5-9
MONTCLAIR ELEMENTARY SCHOOL’S WEEKLY TOP 5 FOR PARENTS
- Parent Concerns Flow: Parents, one of our goals for this school year is to continue to grow and better in our communication with our Montclair Families. The staff at Montclair is always willing to allow our parents to have their concerns addressed amicably. We want to remind our families that anytime there is a classroom concern; we must bring it to the teachers' attention first. If the concerns are not resolved, or the concern is ignored, then we encourage families to reach out to one of the members of the Administration Team. Our teachers expect to work with all families as needed within reason, and a lot of concerns can be handled better with the teacher's attention before coming to Admin. Attached below is the Parental Concern Flow Chart. We encourage our families to follow this guideline.
- Communication with The Administration Team: If one of the Administration Team is unavailable to be reached by telephone, please feel free to send us a message on Classdojo. Please allow 24-48 hours for either the Principal or Assistant Principal to contact you back if we do not get back to you at the time. If you would like to arrange an in-person meeting with Admin, please call ahead so that we can ensure we devote our time strictly to hearing and addressing your concerns.
- BOG3:hird Grade Students will take the Beginning of Grade Third Grade Reading Test. The test date is set for September 14, 2022. The BOG3 is not a pass or fail test; it is an assessment for our Third Grade team to see where the students are and where we would need to get them to become academically proficient. We aim to ensure that all our students read on or above grade level. Please encourage your students not to stress about the test but to try to do their very best. This week their homeroom teacher sent home a parent letter discussing the purpose of this assessment. You must bring your child to school on time so they can assess. The BOG3 will begin no later than 9:00, so please have them rested and ready. If you have questions about testing, don't hesitate to contact Mrs.Marrs, the Back-up Test Coordinator.
- Classdojo: Please make sure that you are signed up for Classdojo. Classroom Teachers, The Administration Team, and Student Support Staff utilize this resource to communicate with our families for updates and Need to Know Information.
- Car Rider Line: Parents, thank you for this week's assistance and patience. Please make sure that your car number is visible for student pick-up. In the morning time, please stay in your vehicle in line unless you need assistance from our front office.

A Message from The Administration Team
Happy Friday to our Montclair Families,
We want to remind our families to sign up for all our Social Media Platforms and other communication resources. Please make sure that you also check our Montclair School Website. We want to ensure that our parents are constantly in the know and kept updated with what is happening in the school building.
As the Transportation Coordinator, I want to remind parents that if transportation needs to change, please send a letter to your child to be turned in to the front office staff. We can not take a Change of Transportation over the phone; it must be in written format. During dismissal, our goal is to make sure that every student goes home in the correct manner. If there are any questions, please get in touch with your child's homeroom teacher or contact Mr. Gillespie.
Thank you so much for your time as we look forward to a year and rebuilding, refocusing, and reassuring all stakeholders about being Montclair Strong. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns for administrators, please feel free to email us, use Classdojo or contact us in our Facebook group.
We look forward to an effective partnership with our families and an excellent school.
Principal-Stephanie Wall Powell/Assistant Principal-Darius B.Gillespie
