Literacy Assessment & Family Book Fair Night.
Currently the DRA-2 (Developmental Reading Assessment) is being administered in Grades K-2. Parents will receive a letter noting their child's current reading level just in time for the PTA Family Book Fair Night on Thursday, February 22nd beginning at 6:30pm. Please come visit and explore all the exciting books on display. Fun activities are planned for the students highlighting this year's theme,"Paws for Books". All may partake in a contest matching pictures of pets to the DWS staff member they belong to. Hope to see you all there.

PBL in Action in our PreK & K Classrooms
Our PreK and Kindergarten classes are busy exploring different PBLs throughout the month of February. Some topics of study include: Dinosaurs, Maps and Globes, Arctic Animals, Habitats, Clothing, and Family & Cultures. Students will be answering essential questions like:
How do we know there were once dinosaurs on Earth?
How are different types of dinosaurs similar and different?
How are dinosaurs similar to and different from animals on Earth today?

Random Acts of Kindness Week: February 12-15 & St. Jude's Math-a-thon
In collaboration with our Supervisor of Guidance and Counseling, Jenna Wendolowski, students will be involved in many activities that will promote random acts of kindness. To see what our students will be doing, click on this link: Random Acts of Kindness
Additionally, students are participating in the St. Jude's Math-a-thon. Students work on math problems and collect donations that will go directly to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
