Hennepin County Ambassadors
Next Ambassadors Meeting
We will be planning the events we are planning for events for the year. Our next meeting will be December 10 2023, 12:30-2:30 at the Brookdale Library in Brooklyn Center. Any youth that is still interested in joining should get in contact with Ashley ASAP via email: purry002@umn.edu.
We Need Your Help!
We have undergone some significant staffing changes. If anyone has organizational skills (for office spaces) that they can lend to the program, we will be spending some time at the end of December getting things cleaned up to start off the new year fresh. Please reach out to Ashley via email: purry002@umn.edu if you are able and willing to help.
State & National Educational Experiences
State Leadership Experiences:
There are two leadership workshops being offered this February! Building Leadership and Understanding (BLU) is a youth-led workshop for youth in grades 6-9 that strengthens leadership, communication, and relationship skills. Teens Engaged in Emerging Leadership (TEEL) is for youth in grades 10+ who want to boost their leadership skills. Becoming better leaders all while having a great time.
This year’s theme is "3, 2, 1, Blast off into Leadership!" Youth will learn about communication skills and the intake of information through engaging activities and discussions.
BLU & TEEL will be hosted in three different locations and all are overnight experiences:
Feb. 3-4-BLU & TEEL at Castaway Club, Detroit Lakes
Feb. 10-11-BLU & TEEL at Camp Omega, Waterville
Feb. 17-18-BLU & TEEL at Camp Friendship, Annandale

National Leadership Experiences:
- Ignite by 4-H includes four days of inspiring speakers, workshop sessions, activities, and entertainment. The summit will provide high-school aged youth from across the country the opportunity to explore the best 4-H has to offer in STEM, agriscience, and healthy living. Participants will discover exciting career paths, make connections, and create an action plan to ignite change in their community. 4-Hers who have exhibited growing leadership skills and who have been traditionally underrepresented or excluded from these national events are especially encouraged to apply. A portion of the identified funds are geared for these young leaders. Please invite them to apply and support them in the process.
- Applications for both youth and adult chaperones close Dec. 3 at 11:59 p.m. Monthly meetings will begin in January of 2024, and the participants will travel March 12 - 17, 2024, (includes one sightseeing day). Youth application packet
- Citizenship Washington Focus: is a 4-H civic engagement experience for high school youth. For seven days, teens from around the nation will gather to have meaningful discussions and hear from prominent speakers, influential leaders and engaging young people who have created an impact. They will connect with 500 other teens as they learn the skills needed to lead in their local communities and become change agents to build a brighter future.
- Minnesota 4-H will attend CWF June 20-27, 2024. Approximately 30-40 teens from Minnesota will attend. This trip typically fills quickly; don't wait to apply. If the trip does not receive enough participation, it will be canceled. Youth Application Guide
