Hello!
Welcome Back! We are so excited to be welcoming you to this 2023-2024 school year! We will be kicking this year off on August 16th!
Just a reminder that we have early release on the first day of school at 1 pm (August 16th).

First Day Reminders
- In keeping with tradition, the Crystal Lake Police and Fire Departments will welcome students back to school with us on the first day(s) of school!
- Use the hashtag #D47firstday2023 when posting photos of your student on their first day of school. The district would love to see everyone back-to-school ready!
Drop Off/Pick Up
Student safety is our primary concern. Please follow these procedures put in place for student safety.
- Buses: Students are allowed to ride their assigned bus only.
- Car Riders:
- No parking, drop off or pick up allowed in the church parking lot
- Please cooperate with our staff serving on bus duty. They are trying to help kids be safe.
- Plan ahead so your students are not tardy. The drop off line tends to get long at 7:30am. Students are considered tardy if they are not in their seats by 7:40.
- Students can be dropped off as early as 7:15 am
- Please do not block the bus exit at the end of the day.
- Arrival: 7:15-7:35
- Drop off for all students is in the upper parking lot on Oak Hollow Rd. Go through the parking lot and drop your student off in the parking lot (not on the street). Students will walk down the sidewalk to the blacktop area. Please allow enough time in the morning as there is often a back up on Oak Hollow Rd. All students should be in their homeroom classes no later than 7:40 to avoid being tardy.
- Dismissal:
- Car riders and walkers are dismissed from Door 2 after buses are dismissed at 2:22. If you are picking up your student, please drive to the upper parking lot on Oak Hollow and wait in line until all of the buses are loaded and dismissed. Do not block the exit for the buses. Cars will be allowed to enter the pick up area after the buses are released. Once the circle drive is filled with cars, students will be dismissed from Door #2 to get in their cars. Please have your students enter the cars from the curb side for maximum safety.
- IMPORTANT: Students may not be dropped off or picked up in the church parking lot or on Oak Hollow Road. This creates a serious safety hazard as student have to cross multiple lanes of moving cars and buses.
- Parking:
- We have 4 visitor parking spaces marked with a V in the lower lot. You are welcome to park there or in any open space in either the lower lot or the upper lot. Please do not park at the church unless directed to do so on special events such as Parent Night. Our neighbors at the EFCCL graciously share their parking lot on those special days, but ask that we use our own property otherwise. When using the church parking lot on special events, please respect the property by only parking in designated spaces between parking lines. When visiting HBMS, parking is allowed on Oak Hollow, taking into consideration the "no parking" yellow curbs.
- Bicycles and skateboards must be walked on school property. It is highly recommended that you lock up your bike. There is a bike rack on the northeast corner of the building and on the playground. Skateboards can be stored in the student office for the day for safe keeping.

Activity Buses
Activity buses run Monday, Tuesday and Thursday starting Monday, August 21st. The intent in providing these activity buses is to enable more of our students to participate in school activities, clubs, sports or remedial help as appropriate. On these days, our Library Media Center will also be open in order to enable students to complete homework, engage in research or to provide a quiet place to study under teacher supervision until 4:10 pm, buses leave the parking lot at 4:15 pm. The routes will be posted on our website prior to August 28th for your to go over with your student. Routes are abbreviated and stop within a neighborhood. We encourage you, as parents, to take advantage of this wonderful opportunity from which ultimately your children benefit.
As new clubs begin, they will be added to our Clubs & Activities page on our website. We encourage parents and students to also check our Daily Announcements, which are posted on our website each day, to see what clubs are starting up soon.
