Giesinger Elementary
A Resource for Families
March 19, 2020
Dear Giesinger Families,
We hope all of our families are doing well. We recognize how difficult this situation is for everyone. The Giesinger staff has been working hard to identify meaningful instructional activities for your children to do while he or she is at home for an extended period of time. Our goal in this work is to provide you with activities that are aligned with what your children typically do during the school day. Recognizing it will not be the same as being in the classroom, but the activities should be familiar and engage your children in academic learning for approximately one to two hours each day.
This newsletter will serve as our "landing page." This page will be used as a place where you can access all the instructional activities. I will be sending this newsletter weekly just as I send the Giesinger Gazette. You and your child may access this using your phone or any computer. Paper copies are available each Friday from 9 AM -12 PM at Giesinger Elementary.
Please click on the "buttons" below for grade-specific activities. Our Special Subjects team also has activities for your children.
We certainly know there is a lot going on for families right now. Our intention is to provide you with resources to keep your children actively learning and engaged while they are not at school.
If your child experiences any frustration, please feel free to have them discontinue the activity or make adjustments to it.
To support you in this time, you will also find links with resources to help you talk to your child about COVID-19 and to help ease their fears.
We appreciate your partnership as we navigate this unknown territory together. Please feel free to reach out to any of our staff members through e-mail if you have any questions or concerns along the way.
We know that Eagles Soar to Excellence In All We Do! We love your children and miss them dearly!
Thank you,

To Our Students From Mrs. Ralston
We miss you and love you! I have no doubt you will soar at home with your learning just as you do at school. Your teachers are working hard to find unique ways to keep all of you reading, writing and practicing math. It is equally important to be helpful around your house and listen to your family. Being good listeners and following directions at home helps your family so very much.
I miss our daily school routines so let's sign-off together just as we do for morning announcements. "Boys and Girls....work hard, make good choices, and remember..Eagles Soar to Excellence In All We Do!"
Love,
Mrs. Ralston
A Note From Mrs. Barber
Giesinger Families,
I hope this message finds you all well. I want you know that I am missing your child's smiles, high-5's, and hugs. Teachers have been working very hard for our students during this time and continue to focus on our goal for them, to learn.
Students, although we don't see your faces each day, know that you are being thought of every moment and we continue to find new ways to connect back with you again. Until then, read, write, practice math, listen to your family, help around the house, play with your siblings, and try to enjoy the time you have at home with this unique opportunity. Stay safe and wash your hands like Mrs. Corbit has taught us!
You are strong, smart, and loved! Eagles soar!
Love,
Mrs. Barber
A Note From Mrs. Barton
Hello Eagles,
I hope you are all doing well, and I miss you all so very much. Please know that I am thinking about you. Hopefully you are keeping busy, getting some fresh air, and showing kindness. I’ve been thinking about things that might help you if you feel bored, sad, worried, helpful, etc. Remember all those feelings are normal. Here are two ideas:
Each day:
- Do something that makes you happy - Read, Color, Paint, Build Something, Sing Your Favorite Song, Dance, Play A Board Game, Etc.
- Do something that would makes someone else happy - Read To Someone, Sing To Someone, Help With A Chore, Write Someone A Letter, Etc.
This is a temporary normal but we will get back to our regular routine soon. I love you, miss you, and will see you soon.
Love,
Mrs. Barton
