EHE Connection
March 7, 2022
Greetings, Laker Families-
Well, it is hard to believe that it is already March! Our Lakers had a very FUN month of learning in February thanks to the partnership between our amazing PTA and fabulous staff at EHE! We hope you have been able to appreciate some of the pictures and updates on both the Emerald Hills Elementary and Emerald Hills PTA Facebook pages. Thank you to all who have been able to join our PTA as well as the countless hours our families invest outside of school supporting the academic and social emotional growth of our students. We appreciate you!
And now for March….
Our newly hired Library Media Secretary Mrs. Higgins has been hard at work the past couple weeks preparing our school library to reopen…last week was such a celebration to see our K-3 students thoroughly enjoying library time! I have a feeling you may have already been shown the “book treasures” they brought home on Friday (please see communication from your child’s teacher on the expectations for returning books each week on the classroom library day). Our 4th and 5th grade students will begin checking out books on Monday, March 7.
March 4 was the end of the 2nd trimester for the elementary schools. Report cards will be going home in student backpacks on Friday, March 18. Spring conferences will be requested by teachers for some students for either March 22 or 23. If you have questions, please review the communication sent directly from your child’s teacher or reach out to them via email or Remind.
Fun Activities on the horizon for our students as we celebrate Read Across America in the month of March:
March 10 is “Dress as your favorite book character day at EHE!” This also is the evening for our outdoor PTA spring family event 5:30-7:30pm…the Adventures in Reading Scavenger Hunt (see attached flier). We are excited to see our students dressed up as their favorite book character at school and/or at the evening event. The weather is also looking very promising, but we are Washingtonians and can be ready for anything. :)
**Students can bring book(s) to school this week to donate in the “book collection bin.” These will then be used as part of the book exchange at the event.

Thank you for your continued support of our school community. Our Laker Purposefull People Character Trait for the month of March is “Responsibility…To take action and understand how our choices affect others, ourselves, and the world.” Your follow up at home reinforcing your child as he/she demonstrates “responsibility” each day would be a wonderful home-school connection. The background for our Laker Purposefull People Character Traits can be accessed through the Character Strong website. Thank you for raising such amazing children that desire to be Purposefull People.
