Boosterthon Fun Run
Briggs School families!
We are excited to kick off our Briggs School Fun Run on 6/2. Our goal is to raise $20,000 toward an adaptive playground and to strengthen our school community.
Here’s what all students can get excited about:
Fun, engaging character development lessons
A high-energy event to give our school a much needed boost of fun!
Registration to help our school opens up NEXT WEEK on 5/19. Go to mybooster.com in order to register. Be on the lookout for more details.
Thank you for supporting Briggs School through the Briggs School Fun Run.
Placement Letters for 2022/2023
We are starting to build our class lists for next fall. If you have any concerns for placement next year, please send me an email by May 31st. Specific teacher requests will not be granted, however, please feel free to share your child's learning style or concerns for peer relationships.
Historically we have had an increase of student move-ins/outs over the summer months. As a result, we will not be sharing class lists and teacher assignments until August. Thank you for your patience and understanding. We will have a grade level step-up day for all grades the last week of school. Students will be able to walk through classrooms and hear some grade level specific information from the teachers.
Only Grade 5 Sci/Tech Remaining
We are so close to the finish line. Our 5th grade students have our last MCAS assessments on Monday and Tuesday. Any students that have math assessments to make up from grades 3-5 will also complete the tests on those two days.
Speaking of 5th Grade
We have many important dates for the entire school, but it should be noted that our 5th grade has even more. Here is a quick peek into some of the events for the rest of this year in grade 5:
- May 15 & 16- Sci/Tech MCAS
- May 23, 24, & 25- Nature's Classroom
- June 7- Visit Overlook Middle School
- June 13- Boosterthon Fun Run
- June 14- Field Day
- June 15- Grade 5 Promotion Night Car Parade (time TBA)
Just One Pair Of Shoes Please!
Please refrain from having your child bring more than one pair of shoes into school unless it is a gym day. The cubby areas are already full with bags and coats, these extra items simply aren't needed and sometimes cause distractions.
Music Room News
Our Memorial Day Assembly is scheduled for the morning of Friday, May 27th, 2022. Each child in grades 1-4 has received a copy of their grade’s song lyrics to practice at home between music class rotations. Grades 3 & 4 can also find their song lyrics on their Music Google Classrooms. Kindergarten students have been practicing their song since January, so they are all ready to go!
We traditionally have each grade level wear a color to represent the American flag. This is strictly optional! If your child does not have their grade’s color, that’s fine! They can wear anything that they would normally wear to school. Band & Chorus members can also wear regular school attire and their grade’s color, rather than concert attire. The colors are as follows:
PreK/K: WHITE
1st/2nd: RED
3rd/4th: BLUE
5th: RED, WHITE & BLUE
AWCM will also be there to film the assembly, so that parents can watch it later. More details to follow!
We are also having a Recital Night on Monday, June 13th, at 6:30pm. We haven’t been able to hold this event since 2019! Any student who takes instrumental or voice lessons, either here at JRB or elsewhere, is welcome to participate! Please see form below! FORMS ARE DUE TO MRS. LORDAN BY FRIDAY, MAY 27TH. Any questions, please contact Mrs. Lordan: mlordan@awrsd.org
Important music/arts dates:
JRB Fine Arts Night on Thurs., 6/2/22, Time TBA
JRB Spring Concert on Thurs., 6/9/22, at 7pm, JRB Cafetorium (band students arrive at 6:15pm; chorus students arrive at 6:30pm)

Notes From The Nurses Office
Reminder
If your child has a fever of 100 degrees F or higher, or has vomited, they must remain home for 24 hours, without the administration of any fever reducing medication. If you are unsure as to whether or not your child should come to school because they are feeling ill, please do not hesitate to contact the nursing office.
Physical Exams
Please continue to send in your student’s physical exam documentation from their medical provider. AWRSD requires that all kindergarten and third grade students have a current physical exam on file in the nursing office.
Ticks
Tick season is in full swing. Please remember to check your student on a daily basis for ticks. You will be notified by the school nurse if your child has been seen by the nurse with a tick embedded during school hours. Here is a link which will provide you with more information regarding ticks. https://www.cdc.gov/ticks/index.html
Water Bottles
Please remember to send in a water bottle with your child. The warmer weather is approaching, and the need to stay hydrated is important for one to feel well. Students have the ability to refill their reusable bottles at school.
