Words from our Principal
As we close out summer and head into fall, I have some important announcements to share with you.
Progress reports were released Friday, September 3rd. Please make sure you review your child's grades and use the many interventions available at BVM to get them back on track if necessary.
Fall Break will begin on September 18th. Students will return to school on TUESDAY, October 5th. Monday, October 4th is a staff professional development day, so no students will be on campus.
Fall sports begin Saturday, September 11th! See the BVM website for the full schedule of sports happening that day.
BVM will begin FREE "pool" testing on September 14th. Weekly testing is required for all athletes and performers to be able to participate in extra-curricular activities and this is a free and convenient way to get the testing done with minimal interruption to instructional time. This testing will be available soon for all students and staff.
All of our time, planning and resources are being devoted to allowing students to continue in-person instruction, which is vital to their mental and emotional health and their academic success. The easiest way to ensure that happens is to get your student vaccinated. If you are unable to have them vaccinated, we will follow the modified quarantine protocol to keep them in school as much as possible while having them tested regularly. As inconvenient as this is, we must focus on the goal of keeping kids in school. Thank you to all of you who have agreed to participate in the modified quarantine.
If you have any questions about COVID protocols, testing, or vaccination, please check out the weekly COVID updates sent by the district or reach out to us for help!
Thank you!
Teresa Kramer

Music to our ears!
Our Exploring Arts music class was joined by our mariachi group to play together. Students were practicing Mary Had a Little Lamb using their recorders. What a fun class!

REMINDERS
Reminder that students MAY NOT report to school if they are experiencing any COVID 19 identified symptoms, unless the school has previously received documentation of a pre-existing health condition that mirrors a COVID symptoms (hay fever, migraines). If students report to school with symptoms, they will be removed from instruction and parents will be called to pick students up. Students may not return to school until they present a Negative PCR test and symptoms have improved.
Reminder that students that are on Modified Quarantine must provide proof of testing every 3-4 days (or use a District site that we have records of their testing), or they will not be allowed to return to school on the 5th day and will have to remain home until they provide proof of the negative test or until the 10 day quarantine expires.
Safety
Please follow all traffic and safety rules as you drop off and pick up your children from school.
1.Students should only cross the street at crosswalks
2. Do not stop in the bus loading zone
3. Do not use the parking lots of our neighboring businesses for drop off and pick up
4. PLEASE do not run any red lights.
Your time is important, but not as important as a child's life. BVM administration is out in the parking lots and streets every day to ensure the safety of our students. Please do your part to make sure our kids are safe.
Off Campus Permits
please be aware that we do not give off campus permits during student lunches (12:06-1:16 on regular days and 11:40-12:10 on minimum days) or after 2:45 pm.
Our campus assistants are critical to the supervision and safety of this campus and they need to focus on student safety during those times.
Thank you for your understanding.
Face Covering and Social Distancing Protocols
While we are still requesting social distancing be respected whenever possible on campus, CDPH has removed minimum social distancing requirements generally and specifically in classrooms and buses.
As is required by OSHA and/or California Department of Public Health, the SUHSD will maintain the requirement for all students and employees to wear face coverings indoors on all school sites absent a medical exemption cleared through the District. Similarly, all visitors to District facilities will be required to wear masks absent exemptions.
When outdoors, staff, visitors and students are STRONGLY ENCOURAGED to wear a mask. In large gatherings outdoors, staff, students and volunteers will be encouraged to wear masks.
Non-discrimination Statement
The Board of Trustees is committed to providing equal opportunity for all individuals in education. District programs and activities shall be free from discrimination based on age, gender, gender identity or expression, or genetic information, sex, race, color, religion, ancestry, national origin, ethnic group identification, marital or parental status, physical or mental disability, sexual orientation, immigration status; the perception of one or more of such characteristics; or association with a person or group with one or more of these actual or perceived characteristics.
