This week
- Groundbreaking for the Pool provided an opportunity to thank so many who have worked to bring the project to this point & meet those who will be taking it the rest of the way.
- Royal Construction Services, contractors for Swimming Pool, are scheduled to start 8/15. Work will begin on Powell Lake in Century Park to improve the lake so drainage can be redirected from the site of the new pool to the lake.
- Pullman, contractors for Hall of Waters, is scheduled to start 8/22. Work will begin with shoring up the foundation supports. St. Louis Antique & Lighting will arrive 8/30 to transport the Water Bar to be refurbished. Their work involves re-wiring & cleaning the center island.
- Congress gave its final approval of SB 4521 the America COMPETES Act of 2022, which contains the language authorizing "Community" to become the 7th Category eligible for the Baldrige award. We expect the President to sign the Bill. The Excelsior Springs Community has been participating in the Communities of Excellence effort using the Baldrige framework.
- Friends of the Wells served as Celebrity Bartender at Dubious Claims this week to raise money to return our mineral waters. The first step is to raise $13,000 to test one of the wells to determine if it has the capacity to produce enough water to meet the demand & meets the quality standards for human consumption. Donations can be made to Community Foundation at esgives.org
