Hispanic Heritage Month
About National Hispanic Heritage Month
“Each year, Americans observe National Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15 to October 15, by celebrating the histories, cultures and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America.
The observation started in 1968 as Hispanic Heritage Week under President Lyndon Johnson and was expanded by President Ronald Reagan in 1988 to cover a 30-day period starting on September 15 and ending on October 15. It was enacted into law on August 17, 1988, on the approval of Public Law 100-402.
The day of September 15 is significant because it is the anniversary of independence for Latin American countries Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua. In addition, Mexico and Chile celebrate their independence days on September 16 and September18, respectively. Also, Columbus Day or Día de la Raza, which is October 12, falls within this 30 day period.” https://www.census.gov/newsroom/stories/hispanic-heritage-month.html#:~:text=%E2%80%9CEach%20year%2C%20Americans%20observe%20National,and%20Central%20and%20South%20America.

All classrooms will have a “Fall” themed party towards the end of the day. We are limiting each room to two parent volunteers.
Halloween Costume Expectations 10/31:
Yes, students at the ECC are allowed to wear their costumes to school on Halloween!! It's our responsibility to respect the learning process and provide a safe learning environment at all times. Please note, if you plan to send your child in a costume they must wear it to school. Staff will not be able to put costumes on for the children on this day. If you send a costume in your child’s backpack it will remain there until they arrive home.
Be Respectful: Please be mindful of the learning process. Although students should come dressed in their costumes and will be able to wear them throughout the day, the daily schedule will reflect a normal school day. Additionally, students are NOT required to come dressed and may attend school in typical clothing for the day.
Be Responsible: Students should not come to school with costumes that restrict their movement throughout the day and costumes exhibiting gore or blood will not be allowed at school. Should a student come to school with this type of costume we will need to remove the costume.
Be Safe: No real or simulated weapons or accessories such as guns, swords, pistols, pitchforks, etc. or anything that can be construed as a weapon will be allowed. We strongly recommend all other accessories to costumes remain home. These items can easily be lost or misplaced.
Picture Retakes Day 11/9:
Picture Retakes will take place on November 9th if you did not have your child’s picture taken on Meet the Teacher.
