Also, last week the Helena Hotel where our Speech and Debate team stayed contacted us to let us know what wonderful students we have. They were impressed with their kindness and with how polite they were during their stay.

Finally, congratulations to our Speech and Debate teams for earning 100 Club status with the National Speech and Debate Association. Club's earn points for competition, leadership, and service activities and the GHS team earned more than 150 points.

This Thursday there will be several elementary school holiday performances, parking will be at a premium and it will be challenging for students returning from lunch. Please plan accordingly.

To alleviate parking pressure, beginning after the winter break, we will be allowing some GHS seniors to park in the eastern staff lot based on a lottery system. As there will be increased traffic flow in this lot, please do not use this lot for student drop off and pick up. Please see the map below for student drop off and pick up zones.

Anne Baldwin started powerlifting in her Sophomore year and currently holds 3 state records for her division. Powerlifting includes 3 lifts: the squat, deadlift, and bench press, and lifters get 3 attempts at each. Anne recently competed at Winter Warfare at Beast Athletics in Kalispell and got 3 first place medals in Juniors and a 3rd place in the open women’s division.

As we head into the winter break and last few weeks of the semester, we wanted to underscore the importance of attendance. Regular school attendance is essential for students to make the most of their education — to benefit from teacher-led activities, to build each day’s learning on that of the previous day, and to grow as individuals.

Please be sure to check PowerSchool regularly to monitor attendance. There are only three weeks left this semester before final exams and regular attendance is key to wrapping up a strong first semester.

During the COVID pandemic, the USDA used federal funds to provide free school lunches to all students. This federal subsidy ended in June 2022, and many families are now having difficulty covering the cost of student meals.

Many generous individuals and community groups have recently asked about making donations to help under-resourced families pay for the cost of their students’ lunches.
