Message from Principal and Assistant Principal

Early Release Day Next Week, Tuesday January 9

A reminder to all our Byam families that next Tuesday January 9th is an early release day. Students are dismissed at 11:45 AM. Please communicate with your student's classroom teacher in advance if there are changes to your child's typical dismissal routine.

3 R's Expectation Reboot

As mentioned in the above video, Mr. Fredette and Mrs. Dolan were presenting the 3R Reboot for the recess and dining room expectations to all students during Thursday and Friday's lunches. These reminders support our whole school as we get in gear kicking off the new year of 2024. Classroom teachers and specialists have been reviewing these expectations with students as well in homerooms and specials.

Benchmark Assessments

Over the month of January, we will be conducting our Winter benchmark assessments as a school. These assessments include iReady (reading/math), DIBELS, Fountas & Pinnell Benchmark Assessment System. These benchmark assessments allow us to monitor student growth and plan for instruction. Families will be receiving the iReady benchmark parent report at the conclusion of our testing window.

Grade 4 State House Performance

Next Wednesday January 10th our fourth grade students will be attending the 4th grade State House field trip. Students will have the opportunity to tour the State House and perform on the grand staircase. Many thanks to our Byam music teacher Mr. Graber and 4th grade teachers for planning and supporting this special field trip.

4th Grade Sound Waves Enrichment

Thank you to our BSA for sponsoring our 4th grade Sound Waves enrichment. Today classrooms 31, 32, and 33 took part in this enrichment. Next Friday January 12th, the remaining classrooms of Rooms 30 and 34 will take part in the same Sound Waves enrichment experience.

January Mental Health Webinars sponsored by Chelmsford Health Dept.

Below is information on a Chelmsford community wellness series sponsored by the Chelmsford Health Department, for parents/caregivers and teens. This month's topic is strategies to support youth anxiety. Date Tuesday, January 16th, 2024 at the Chelmsford Public Library, 6:30-7:30 pm.

There will be two time slots to accommodate all students!

5:00-6:30 (K-2 recommended)

7:00-8:30 (3-4 recommended)

*Families with multiple children, or schedule conflicts, can choose either time slot!
