Brightwood Tiger Weekly News
2001 Brightwood School Rd Greensboro, NC 27405
Week of October 23 - October 28
Good Evening Brightwood Tiger. This is Principal Stokes. Welcome to Our Game Changing Week! Please remember we welcome our Tigers into the building beginning at 7:05 am and the tardy bell rings at 7:25 am. So far this school year we have had 60 to 100 students coming to school tardy daily, they are missing valuable instructional time that we cannot get back.
This week on Monday our 3rd and 4th graders will be taking their math interim assessment. Please be sure that all students bring their devices to school fully charged with a positive mindset.
October is National Bullying Prevention Month as a school we will be participating in activities to promote KINDNESS, ACCEPTANCE, and INCLUSION to prevent bullying in the classroom and other youth settings. The Week of October 24th: Start the Week with Conversations Amongst Your Peer, meet with fellow classmates and discuss how we can Change the Culture at our school.
Brightwood families we are getting ready for Red Ribbon Week® 2022 – this year’s theme is: Celebrate Life. Live Drug Free. TM. At school, students will engage in activities that promote a drug free and healthy lifestyle. Please partner with us and discuss this message at home, at the dinner table, at family outings, and with friends and extended family.
We are continuing our spirit week this week so on Monday Oct. 24th we will Educate ourselves About being Drug Free Day” Wear Your Favorite College Shirt! Please check out Class Dojo story for more updates and the rest of this week dress up days.
Thank you all for supporting the Fall Festival on Friday, it was once again an amazing event and we could not have done it without the support of our school community.
Parents many students were issued their devices please help us with reminding the students that their devices are to be used for academic purposes only. We are finding that many students are taking pictures, recoding videos and playing games on their devices. Please take the time to check your child’s device to ensure that they are properly device. We are not able to replace chargers at this time so if your child did not return a charger last year using his/her or have lost their charger this school year, we will not be able to replace it at this time. It will need to be replaced by the parent or guardian.
One cards all students in grades first through fifth that were issued a One Card must bring their One Card to school daily. If the student does not have their issued One Card it will need to be replaced. A new One Card cost five dollars each time it is lost.
Parents remember our safety protocols include that parents are not allowed to enter the building during our morning drop off and afternoon pick up times. When only students enter the building during these times, we can keep a laser focus eye on the children which allows us to be more equipped to recognize any potential suspicious activity. We welcome you to contact the school and/or your child’s teacher to schedule 15-minute classroom visits and meetings.
Friday October 28 is an optional teacher’s workday and Monday October 31 is a mandated teacher’s workday students do not have school. We do have parent teacher conferences set up for Monday.
School dismissal will begin at 2:13, instruction ends at 2:10 pm. Please remember that you must have your government issued photo ID with you each day if you need to pick your child up early for appointment and emergencies which is before 1:45 pm. We ask that you limit picking your child up early because they are missing valuable instructional time when they are being picked up early multiple times.
We thank you so much for all that you do! Remember it is always a Great Day to Be a Brightwood Tiger! Have a wonderful evening remember to be amazing, because you are Amazing.
Love Always your proud Principal,
Ms. LaTrice Stokes
