Annual Cord Drive
Donate Your Holiday Lights, Phone Chargers & Electrical Cords
We are joining again with WNC (Waunakee Neighborhood Connection) to provide recycling drop off locations at our schools. This recycling drive helps WNC raise a few dollars and also keeps non-renewable, recyclable resources out of the landfill. All proceeds go directly to WNC.
Here are the details:
- Cord drive runs November 16 through January 31, 2024
- Location: One large purple WNC bin near each school office that will be regularly emptied
- Acceptable Items: Christmas lights, phone chargers, and any electrical cords (leave plugs on). NO charger blocks
Keep this drive in mind as you decorate and un-decorate this year! It may be a nice time to clean out other old cords and cables no longer in use both at home and in your school environment.
Please note that the cords can be in ANY condition. They are recycled and WNC gets money per pound for each type of wire. The proceeds are then used to support WNC programs and clients...AND we keep the non-renewable resources out of our landfills!

Hello Parents and Guardians
Please consider attending this important community conversation on December 6th in the High School Auditorium from 6-7:30 PM.
Screenagers Under The Influence: Addressing Vaping, Drugs, and Alcohol in the Digital Age, the third feature documentary in the Screenagers trilogy, delves into how the tech revolution has reshaped adolescence and its effects on substance use. The film debunks myths and depicts strategies parents and schools can use to encourage healthy decision-making, support teen mental health, set limits, and create healthy home environments. The film also includes many ways young people are using their wisdom and strength to help each other and themselves through this complicated terrain around substance use.
While most documentaries about substance use focus on severe addiction, Screenagers Under The Influence fills a pressing need for a film that explores more common scenarios. The film is grounded in teens’ current reality of being flooded by images on social media, movies, and TV shows about vaping, drugs, and alcohol.
Like the first two Screenagers films, Screenagers Under The Influence interweaves cutting-edge science with personal stories to create an informative and entertaining film experience for young people and adults alike. Screenagers Under The Influence focuses on practical solutions for keeping our teens safe in a changing world.

Student Financial Assistance Campaign
STUDENT FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FUND
FONDO DE AYUDA FINANCIERA PARA ESTUDIANTES
The 2023-2024 school year has brought a renewed sense of energy and commitment to our Student Financial Fund Committee and Fund within the Waunakee Community School District.
The Waunakee Community School District is committed to ensuring that all students and families can participate in their school communities regardless of a family’s financial situation and ability to pay. Scholarships or payment plans are available to any student who has been approved for the free/reduced meal program, and may be available to any student whose families have a financial need due to unique circumstances.
Waunakee Community School District students and families at the 4K-12 levels were supported in several ways from the Student Financial Assistance Fund throughout the 2022-2023 school year.
The Student Financial Assistance Fund is proud to have provided $45,000+ in dollars to support students and families for the 2022-2023 school year. It is our hope that in the future this amount can increase to provide even more support for those in need. We are especially grateful to our community, staff, local partners and businesses, etc. for donating to the Student Financial Assistance Fund to make these requests possible year after year.
Examples include:
AP exam testing fees
Athletic and Booster Club fees
