Fall Parent Advisory Council

In an effort to allow all GES parents the opportunity to provide their valuable input into our Title I program, we are bringing the Fall Parent Advisory Council (PAC) meeting to YOU! This presentation will take the place of an in-person meeting so that each family can "attend" and offer their input. PAC meeting information is linked throughout, so please be sure to click to view the documents provided or to provide your input. Also, be sure to take our brief meeting evaluation to provide your feedback on not only our Fall PAC but also our Title I program as a whole.

The major work of the Fall Parent Advisory Council meeting is to:

1. Discuss and collect input regarding school policy & compacts
2. Approve compacts

This will be accomplished through your completion of the Fall PAC evaluation and Compact approval forms.

Each year GES students, teachers and families join together in creating a Family-School Compact for each grade-level that outlines the ways in which we will all work together to make sure our students are able to reach their grade-level standards.

GES parents took part in our annual Title I Fall Survey from September 12th - September 22nd. The results are linked below!

Brochures and additional information in response to the survey are available online and in the Parent Resource Workroom (room 302). The Parent Institute Library is available online in English and Spanish and covers a variety of topics highlighted in the Fall Survey.

DAC, District Advisory Committee, representatives attend 2 short meetings a year, held during the school day and serve as a voice for GES parents in our district. This is a great way to get involved not only at Graysville, but to also have your voice heard at the District level.

Our 2022-2023 School & District Family Engagement policies are available on the school website and in the Parent Resource Workroom. Parents are encouraged to provide their input throughout the year. GES Title I Input form

Graysville students are assessed several times a year to ensure that they are learning the state adopted standards and to help improve our teaching and learning. Results from the various assessments are used to identify those students who are not mastering the standards and to provide teachers will feedback regarding instruction. The information gathered from these assessments help our school establish goals in planning our educational programs.

We currently administer the following assessments:

MAP Assessment: Kindergarten - 5th grade

Georgia Milestone Assessment: 3rd- 5th grade

Georgia Kindergarten Inventory of Developing Skills (GKIDS): Kindergarten

You may select any of the links above to learn more about our assessments. Our GES F.A.S.T. (Family Academic Support Team) meetings also address our MAP assessments in greater detail. A newsletter for parents will also be sent out closer to the Georgia Milestones that will offer greater insight into this important test.

Our school-wide goals for the 2022-23 school year are to:

• Increase the percentage of students scoring in the proficient (3) and distinguished (4) categories in ELA by three percentage points.

• Increase the percentage of students scoring in the proficient (3) and distinguished (4) categories in Math by three percentage points.

Parents are encouraged to provide their comments and suggestions regarding our Title I Budget. If you have any further concerns or questions about Title I and how Title I money is spent, please contact Marissa Watson, Parent Involvement Coordinator or Kerri Sholl, Principal.

Open House - 8/5/22: Meet your child’s teacher, GES staff, and the Parent Involvement Coordinator.

Parent Orientation - 8/18/22: Discuss the school year with your child’s teacher.

Title I Annual Meeting - 8/18/22: Learn about our Title I program & how Title I benefits your student.

Parent & Family Volunteer Orientation - 8/23/22-8/25/22: Discover the many ways you can help our school.

Title I Fall Parent Advisory Council (PAC) Meeting - 9/27/22: Provide your input about our Title I program.

1st Semester F.A.S.T. Meeting - 9/20/22: Learn how to help your child succeed this school year. Year-long goals & Fall MAP benchmark data will be shared by your child’s teacher. Lexile information will be shared along with strategies to help your child continue learning at home.

Family Engagement Month - November 2022

2nd Semester F.A.S.T. Meeting - 1/31/23: Winter MAP Benchmark results and mid-year goal reviews will be discussed, along with Milestones information for our 3rd, 4th, & 5th grade parents.
