Reflections on Kindness Week
Our staff and students made several posters to send to Robb Elementary school in Uvalde, Texas to show their love for kindness week.
Black History Month is an annual celebration of achievements by African Americans and a time for recognizing their central role in U.S. history.
Hello from your Fort Stevens specialist team.
We have been working on kindness this month. We have worked on individual growth as well as reaching out to a school in Texas who has gone through a tragedy this past year. Our school made a poster and took a group photo to let them know that we care.

The Educational Programs and Operations Levy funds allow the district to continue programs and services that meet the needs and goals of our students. Key areas which are not fully funded by the state require local dollars to ensure our students are prepared to enact their personalized plans after graduation. The levy is 13% of the district budget and is focused on staffing to support learning and instruction, special education and services, emotional and physical health, athletics and activities, and technology and operations.

Transition to Kindergarten
The Transition to Kindergarten is a free early learning program that serves students who will be 4 years old by August 31, 2024. Eligibility criteria and frequently asked questions are available on the website. The application window for the 2024-2025 school year will open February 15 for students who reside in the Fort Stevens or Mill Pond attendance areas. Families are encouraged to apply online and will be notified if they are admitted to the program.
Our students remembered Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with an assembly and evening of poems, percussion and singing. What a wonderful performance!
Regular attendance at school is essential to the learning process. Our teachers teach until the last bell of the day. While checking your student out 15-20 minutes early may not seem like a big deal, it adds up to a lot of missed learning. It's important for students to arrive on time, prior to 9:15 am and stay for the entire school day. If a student's tardiness becomes frequent, the student will be referred to our Dean of Students for support.
Britany, our Attendance Secretary has been sending out pink attendance slips in order to clear up any unexcused absences. If your student brings one home, please be sure to fill in the information and return slip to office. If your student brings their pink attendance slip back to the office, they will get to choose a prize out of the prize box. You can reach the 24 hour Attendance Line at 360-458-8198. You may also email our Attendance Secretary at fs_attendance@ycs.wednet.edu.
Student Pick Up Procedures:
You MUST DISPLAY your number in your window. If the number is not present, you MUST PARK and come in to pick up your student. This is for our student's safety.
WATCH D.O.G.S.® (Dads Of Great Students) and WATCH M.O.M.S. (Moms of Marvelous Students) is a family and community engagement educational initiative.
