Southern Tioga Times
August 2020
I hope this message finds you well.
I am delighted to share that this is the first edition of the Southern Tioga Times, a newsletter our district will be publishing each month. Each edition will feature a Superintendent message, a spotlight from one of our schools or myCyberCampus, and other important announcements.
The purpose of this newsletter is to keep our learner driven community informed of the work we are doing throughout the district as it relates to our guiding principles. These newsletters will be shared in addition to individual school newsletters that may be shared and will be archived on our website.
As we move into the 2020-2021 school year, I would like to thank everyone that provided feedback in many forms. I have read your messages, emails, comments, suggestions, and answers to our survey questions. As a learning community, while we may not always agree on decisions that are made, we all want what is best for our children.
On July 13, 2020, the Southern Tioga School District Board of Directors reviewed and approved the STSD Health and Safety Plan SY 20/21. Every precaution is being taken to ensure the health and safety of our students, but this year is unlike any we have experienced before. We ask for your continued patience and support as we respond to the changing circumstances/guidance or to improve the current systems in place.
We are looking forward to welcoming back students on Wednesday, August 26th.
Please do not hesitate to contact me or your child’s building principal if you have any questions.
Stay safe -

Hello and welcome back!
It is with great excitement and anticipation that we begin our new school year at Liberty Elementary School! To our existing families, I look forward to welcoming you back to a new chapter in your children’s lives.
To all of the new families who will be joining us, I eagerly anticipate working with you, as together, we will support your children throughout their journey at our school.
For everyone: students, families, faculty, and staff, returning to school brings a sense of a new beginning and a fresh start. We also recognize there will be feelings of uncertainty. It is natural to have a bit of anxiety and questions pertaining to what this year will look like– what will be different, what will my teacher be like, who will be in my class, etc. Nevertheless, we are prepared to support our students and staff in the safest and best way possible and are focused on continuous learning.
Liberty Elementary School has a tradition and reputation for its strong, family-oriented culture and parent/community partnerships. A key responsibility of ours is to help our children embrace this moment and prepare them to get the most out of their educational experience.
Despite any challenges ahead, I am confident that we will work together to provide the best possible experience for our students, with health and safety being our top priority.
Please continue to stay healthy, take care of each other, and stay connected. I encourage you to reach out if you have any questions and can be contacted at egraham@southerntioga.org or 570-324-2521.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Emily Ostrom-Graham
