Rhino Weekly Connection
05.16.22
From Acting Principal Megan Weir!
Hello Ryan Families!
Can you believe we've made it to the last full week of school? We are so proud of our Ryan Rhinos! I hope everyone has already made plans to rest, rejuvenate, and make fun family memories for the summer!
I had so much fun greeting our students as they came back from various field trips last week. Please ask your 3rd graders about the goats- lots of stories there! 4th grade got back from their Ameritown visit and they were amazed at the 'little town' that fit inside the warehouse! Such a great experience for them. Many students have been walking Coal Creek, or visited BVSD's own Sombero Marsh in Boulder- amazing learning happens in and outside the classroom! This week, students are completing projects and getting ready for year-end activities.
Here's to the next eight days!
In Partnership,
Megan

Ninja Nation is Coming to Ryan!
News From the Health Room
If you plan to have a med at school for your child for next school-year, please have your child's physician complete the authorization form (below) before the first day of school. Forms must be updated each school-year and accompany the medication in the original packing.
Please read the following information from BVSD Health Services:
BVSD students may receive medications at school according to the following protocols:
Medications (over-the-counter OR prescription) may not be in the personal possession of students except for those with written authorization from a health care provider and the School Nurse
A completed Medication Administration Authorization form must be submitted for each prescription or over-the-counter medication that will be administered at school. This form is available from your school’s Health Room and on the BVSD website: https://resources.finalsite.net/images/v1564117558/bvsdorg/yntwuiyeformgsqqfe49/MedicationAuthorizat ionForm72019.pdf
A new authorization form must be completed each year for each medication.
Medications must be delivered to the health room or office staff by an adult.
Prescription medications supplied by the student’s parent/guardian must be in the pharmacy supplied container and clearly labeled for the student.
Non-prescription, “over-the-counter” medications must be in the original container and clearly labeled for the student.
It is the responsibility of the parent to obtain all unused medication from the school, at the end of the school year all unclaimed medications will be disposed of.
Parents may always come to school and administer medication to their child.
Feel free to reach out to Miss Jamie, our Health Room Aide, with any questions or concerns at jamie.hanes@bvsd.org OR 720.561.7009.

Drop-Off/Pick-Up Safety Reminders
The biggest issue we are seeing after school is cars not getting in the pick-up line and pulling into the bus lane. We closely monitor the cars that go in for safety, to reduce congestion and to keep the pace of the line moving. Please do your part and join the line!
Please help keep our students and families safe before and after school by following the safety rules below. We understand that everyone is busy and often in a hurry before and after school, however, we ask for your patience and full attention while driving around school grounds!
- School Start and End Time: School starts at 8AM (9AM on Wednesday) students arriving after 8AM will be marked tardy. All parents must arrive no later than 3:05 to pick up their child. We do not have supervision available after this time. If you are running late please call the office.
- Be Attentive: Please remain off your phone when dropping off and picking up your child. Take extra caution while pulling in and out of parking spots in the parking lots. There are many small children that may not be visible.
- Car Line: After school it is very important that all cars stay in the car pick up line until directed into the bus lane for student pick up. Students may not enter cars in the parking lot. This is for the safety of all students and drivers, as well as to keep the pick up line moving smoothly (see map below). Again, if you do not want to wait in the line, you are welcome to park a couple blocks away and walk up to your child's door to pick them up.
- Parking Lot: The parking lot is a busy place before and after school. We ask that since the parking lot is used for our pick up line, that you do not walk or ride bikes through the parking lot.
- Be Kind: We understand that before and after school logistics can be stressful. However, we ask that everyone is kind and respectful to one another.
- Wheels: No bikes, scooters, or skateboards allowed on school sidewalks. Please walk your wheels on the sidewalks within the parking lot driveways (see map below).
- Pets: Although we have many pet-lovers at Ryan, please do not bring pets of any kind on school grounds while picking up or dropping off your child.
- Crosswalks: Please only cross Centaur Village at the designated crosswalk. We ask that you are a good safety-role-model for your child, as well as all students at Ryan. Please keep the crosswalk in front of the school, as well as the intersections/sidewalks clear for everyone to get through safely.

Last school year the Board of Education updated its policies around bullying, and investigating complaints around bullying (See Policy JDHB / JDHB-E). To make the reporting process as easy as possible for victims of bullying, the district has created a single form to make a bullying report.
Once submitted, the school principal will be notified of your submission and will promptly begin to investigate the complaint. Parents/guardians can then expect to receive a report of this investigation. You can make a bullying report using the form on the Help for Students page which is also linked at the top of our school website. Paper copies will also be available in our/ your school’s front office.
