The School Board received testimony from Carol Zimmerman, Lisa Thole, Ron Lease, Elizabeth Keeling, Marty Scofield, Scott Coggins, Michele Weitzel, Isabelle Chesness and Mike Phillips.

Dr. Jennifer Cherry, executive director of human resources, provided the School Board with an update on the status of negotiations for employee groups consistent with Board Policy 209, Negotiations Code of Ethics. Dr. Cherry provided an overview of the status of negotiations with the district’s 14 bargaining groups and five policy groups. This was an informational update and no action was required.

School Board policy directs that the school board meet at their first meeting in January to elect board officers including Chair, Vice Chair, Clerk and Treasurer.

• The election for board chairperson ended in a tie with Director Jeff Simon and Director Matt Audette each gaining three votes.
• The board considered a motion to direct board members Jeff Simon and Matt Audette to share responsibility for reviewing and advising agendas until a chairperson is named. The motion was approved on a 4-2 vote.
• The election of Vice Chair did not receive any nominations.
• The election of Clerk did not receive any nominations.
• The election of Treasurer did not receive any nominations.

School Board members represent the School District on various committees and commissions based on appointments by the School Board Chair. For 2024, the following appointments were made:

3. Cash disbursements report.
4. Cash balance report.
5. Donations and scholarship reports.
6. Monthly revenue and expenditures.
7. Prior approval for release of payments in 2024.
8. Immunization exclusions as required by Statute 121a.15.
