We are preparing a presentation for the Mukilteo School Board that aims to showcase our school's strengths, acknowledge our challenges, and highlight our goals for the year. We believe that the personal stories of our dedicated staff, enthusiastic students, and engaged families are an important part of our story. We would be honored if you could take a moment to share your insights and experiences with us. Your story can help us paint a more vivid picture of our Discovery community and the positive impact it has on the lives of our students and families.
If you're willing to contribute, please click on the link below to share your story (and/or your student's story) or to schedule a brief interview with us. We appreciate your time and commitment to our school.
What does Discovery Mean to You?
Thank you for being a valued part of our community.
Diwali – the Hindu Festival of Lights
Diwali – the Hindu Festival of Lights
Diwali, or Dipawali, India's biggest and most important holiday of the year begins today, November 12, 2023. The festival gets its name from the row (avali) of clay lamps (deepa) that Indians light outside their homes to symbolize the inner light that protects from spiritual darkness. This festival is as important to Hindus as the Christmas holiday is to Christians. The Festival of Lights is a five-day celebration that includes good food, fireworks, colored sand, and special candles and lamps. Hindus interpret the Diwali story based upon where they live.
NO GUM at Discovery
We have seen an increase in gum chewing at school. Gum is not allowed at Discovery. We appreciate your support in having your student keep gum at home.
The Scholastic Book Fair is Coming!
November’s schoolwide Character Strong focus is GRATITUDE
Overview
Pursuit #1
What are some small, specific things that you are Grateful for? Maybe it is your favorite water cup, the way the cat sleeps on the chair, or when your grandma bakes banana bread. Spend some time as a family trying to think of at least 10 small things that you have Gratitude for and then choose to notice them this week with a smile.
