Friday Flyer
October 7, 2022
Dear Families,
It was cold on Monday, but we had some great vegetable harvesting and seed-saving going on in preparation for our harvest soup. The Tuesday rain postponed some additional garden time and delayed the soup to next week, so Wednesday is the new day. Please encourage your child to at least try it – he/she will NOT be disappointed! Next week we also have Fire Prevention assemblies and the Swan Lake Walk (details below).
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE LABEL LABEL LABEL LABEL
Jackets, lunch boxes, water bottles, sweatshirts – a name on a tag goes a long way –
thank you!
CAFETERIA UPDATE - WATER BOTTLES
When kids don’t bring in their own drink for lunch, they can either buy a milk or juice, get a cup of water, or get a drink from the fountain. We are trying to eliminate/reduce the number of single-use plastic cups we recycle in the cafeteria during lunch, but we need your help to do it. If your child brings a lunch, it would be helpful if you send your child to school with a drink in a LABELED refillable thermos/bottle. This would also reduce trips to the water fountain during the day. Thank you!
SWAN LAKE WALK - DETAILS
Attached is a flyer about our annual Foundation Swan Lake Walk and Fundraiser, including programs the fundraiser supports and how to volunteer and/or donate. Here is the SignupGenius link:
https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0d4ea5ae22a0fcc43-2022
This is a PK-8 event (no JPK) and everyone is encouraged to walk together, regardless of whether you choose to volunteer or make a donation. Children spend approximately 45 minutes enjoying a chaperoned walk around the lake with their classmates and visiting learning stations along the path – it's lots of fun and educational too! That said, please let your child’s teacher know if you do not want your child to participate and he/she will stay in the library with an adult.
PHOTO OPT-OUT
As you know, we regularly post photos of our school/students – either on the website, in publications, or on social media (like my Twitter feed, for example). However, if you do NOT want your child’s image to ever be used, please email me (abrown@pocanticohills.org) and my secretary, Deb Kaplan (dkaplan@pocanticohills.org).
