Welcome Back, Falcons!

For those I haven’t had the opportunity to meet yet, my name is Jimmy Chism and I am writing to you with great excitement to welcome you back and to share the news that I will be joining the Flynn community as your new principal in the coming school year. I am honored and thrilled to have the opportunity to lead such an outstanding school and work alongside the dedicated students, staff, and parents that make this community so special. I bring a passion for education, a commitment to student learning, and 8 years of experience in school leadership with Westminster Public Schools.

I’m also happy to tell you that our new Assistant Principal will be a familiar face to you and your children. Lucy Pearson has been with the Flynn team for 7 years as a teacher and instructional coach. Our team will benefit greatly from her leadership skills and her existing relationships with the people who make this school extraordinary.

I would like to express my deepest gratitude to the over 20 families who attended last night's PTO meeting. What a great turnout! Your warm welcome and enthusiastic participation made me feel instantly at home. It was heartwarming to witness such a vibrant and engaged community coming together to support our school. The PTO plays a vital role in fostering a positive and nurturing environment for our students, and I encourage any families who wish to contribute and be part of this team to stop by the PTO table at our upcoming Back-to-School Night on August 10th from 4-5:30.

The Westminster Public Schools Back to School Breakfast and Backpack Giveaway is set for Saturday, August 5 from 8 to 10am at Westminster High School. Families are invited to receive a free backpack for each student that’s currently enrolled in one of our schools. After receiving a backpack filled with school supplies, head over to the cafeteria where our Culinary Services team will be serving a free, nutritious breakfast.

Please join us for our Back to School Night from 4-5:30 on Thursday, August, 10th. Kindergarten orientation will also be that night, starting at 3:30.

Kindergarten "hug and go" will occur on August 15th at 8:30. Students will meet teachers outside in order to better transition their children into the classroom. It is often much more difficult for a child to say their goodbyes once an adult has walked into the classroom with them, we want to begin to create that routine for your child to be successful with daily transition into the school day. If you are bringing school supplies on this day, we will have baskets set outside if there are supplies that students are bringing on day 1. Families will stand along the fence line and cheer on their student.

K-8 School

• 8:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Tuesday-Friday (1:30 release on Mondays)

Pre-K

• 8:30 - 3:00 p.m., Tuesday-Friday (1:00 release on Mondays)

A friendly reminder that Flynn is a uniformed campus. All students will be required to wear a uniform Monday through Friday. Students will be able to earn "dress down days" on Fridays based on kindness, attendance, and academics. See below for uniform policy.

Families will have the same number used last year for pick up. New families will receive a driveline tag (used to pick up your child) at our Back to School Night it will be sent home with your student on the first day of school.
