Welcome to the November 2022 edition of the Principal Post Family Newsletter. This month brings the PTA Talent Show, the Book Fair and Parent- Teacher Conferences. See the details below.

SIGN UP FOR PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCE -- (Directions)

Once you schedule your conference time, please let your child's teacher know if you prefer to have a virtual conference. We'll assume you are coming in unless you contact your child's teacher with a preference to conduct the conference virtually.

• the 20+ families and Club Rec that decorated trunks

• the candy and food drive donations from families
• the Lombard Fire Department representing local heroes
• Mr. Danielski for always being up for anything and supporting every crazy idea the PTA has
• Ms. Brown and Student Council for giving back to local families with the food and gift card drive
• Mother Nature - girl, you were awesome (unlike last year - no hard feelings)
• Lindsay Rosasco, author and Blue Ink Design for the incredibly generous donation for our pumpkin contest winner and our talented WHS pumpkin carver
• Holiday ops for donating your talent and holiday backdrop. Can’t wait to see what you have planned for winter!
• Our incredible Trunk or Treat Committee!!!!

In November, the First Graders and Fourth Graders will be participating in a service project to send donated Halloween candy to our brave troops. What a great way for your child to say thank you. From October 31st - November 4th, please have your child bring in any wrapped candy from their “Halloween Loot” and we will put it to good use! Let’s give our troops a sweet salute!

Pop Tabs!

Today we watched a video about Pop tabs. Pop tabs are the metal tab on top of a can. We are going to help collect pop tabs for the Ronald Mcdonald house. The Ronald Mcdonald house helps families who have sick children that need their family to be with them. Collect as many pop tabs you can to help kids in need.

Join us from 6-8 pm on Wednesday, November 2 for our inaugural Connect 44 Center Celebration. The goal of the event is to create connection through collaboration, celebration and conversation. Some activities include a student art showcase, musical performances, recreational activities, education sessions for parents and more. Please look for further details i

INAUGURAL CONNECT 44 EVENT, NOVEMBER 2, 2022:

Please join us on November 2, 6:00PM - 8:00PM, for a special event:

We welcome our entire District 44 school community to come connect, play, explore and learn during our Inaugural Connect 44 Event. From musical performances by our students, to bounce houses, recreational games on our state-of-the-art courts and dessert delicacies, there will be plenty of activities for your family. And, while your children play, you can take part in three different educational presentations.

We also will officially unveil our first ever district-wide art piece, which features the names (or handprints) of every student in District 44. Come celebrate your child leaving a permanent mark on this incredible facility designed for our whole community to enjoy. Please see below for more details; no RSVP is required.

We have not forgotten our promise to honor your time here in District 44 with a commemorative

brick. We invite all 2020 graduates and their families to attend the Inaugural Connect Center

event, where we will finally unveil the commemorative brick art. Come find your child’s name

and celebrate their legacy at GWMS.

As much as we all truly love our four legged friends, we ask that dogs are not present on our school property during morning drop off and afternoon pick up. Thank you for your support and cooperation with this.

Come out to support the WHS PTA, school and kids on Wednesday, November 2nd. Teriyaki Madness is hosting this month's fundraising event and will graciously donate back a percentage of sales to the school. Teriyaki Madness is located at 795 E. Butterfield Road in Lombard.

WHS Scholastic book fair coming soon! Be sure to mark your calendars to visit the book fair. Book fair will be held November 16-22nd in WHS LRC. More information can be found here. Parents are able to set up an EWallet for students. Please reach out to Kristy Dacany with any questions.

SATURDAY, 11/19/22, 11:00am - 2:00pm

"I just like to smile. Smiling's my favorite." Hate waiting for mall Santa pics as much as we do? Well, we have the solution for you! Saturday, Nov 19th from 11am-2pm, the WHS PTA has rented out MWD Photography studio and all purpose room for pictures with Santa at a special discounted price! This is for all Hammerschmidt families and 10% of proceeds goes to the WHS PTA! Sign up for a 5 minute slot - no waiting involved! Reflections Art Show and Reception will be held on Thursday, November 3, 2022 from 6-730pm. Please join us to celebrate the creative talents of our students! All Hammerschmidt entries will be on display in the LRC that evening.

All are welcome to join the WHS PTA meeting on Monday, 11/14. The meeting will be held in the LRC.

Mark your calendars and come give a standing ovation for Hammerschmidt’s amazing cast and crew! We have music, dance, magic and more. Don’t miss it!

JOIN THE WHS PTA!:

You can still join the PTA! We are off to an exciting start and we need your continued support for a successful and fun school year! Be sure to sign up to become a member of an organization that benefits your children! Dues are $10.00 per adult or $15 per family of which $4.50 goes to the Illinois/National PTA & the remaining portion helps fund our activities and programs at WHS. We encourage at least one parent to join and/or you (or grandparents, family members etc.) can donate which 100% goes directly to WHS PTA to help support the many amazing programs and clubs, field trips and teacher/staff appreciation efforts that WHS PTA offers throughout the school year. You will receive a copy of the WHS school directory as a benefit of your WHS PTA membership. The school directory comes in handy for play dates, car pools, homework help, group projects and more! Did you know you can Subscribe to the digital PTA and school calendar? Visit Events and then click subscribe. You can choose iCal, outlook or Google calendar and it will automatically add the events to your calendar.

Join the WHS PTA Facebook Page so you will always have the most up-to-date information for all the PTA events happening throughout the school year.

Join other parents, high school and middle school students, and professionals to learn about issues facing today’s youth. The Glenbard Parent Series engages top experts, parents and school staff to become proactive and informed in pursuit of the mutual goal to strengthen our communities.
