Happy Friday!

We hope your child had a fantastic first full week of school. Thank you to "Olive" our families that joined us for curriculum night. We hope you learned more about your child's teacher and classroom. At any point during the year, if you have questions or concerns, please don't hesitate or wait to reach out to your child's teacher. Our goal is to partner together to make our students' experiences at OMS the best they can be.

A few important reminders.

• For families that use the drop off/pick up lane, PLEASE pull all the way forward and follow the directions of our staff. This helps us get all students to school safely, on time and families in and out of the car drop off lane as quickly as possible.
• There is NO PARKING in the drop off/pick up lane. If you would like to stand with your child in the morning or greet them at the door in the afternoon, please park in our lot or in the church lot across the street. Parked cars hinder the flow of traffic.
• Please set the best example for our students by using the designated crosswalks with Ms. Vicki or in the loading zone with an OMS staff member.

Sometimes students request a face mask. We are happy to continue to have them available for our students; however, it would be really helpful if students kept a mask in their backpacks in case they want one. This way they can easily get it without having to ask their teacher or take time out of their classroom to walk to the office and back.

New this year OMS has a breakfast program! Students may arrive and ring the office door buzzer to come inside for breakfast beginning at 8:45. If your child rides the yellow bus they may also get breakfast. Our bus riders are now getting off the buses at 8:45 with staff assistance and walking to join their classes on the plaza or blacktop. If your child would like breakfast they can go to the office instead of joining their grade level line. The cost of breakfast is $1.75. If you qualify for the free/reduced price meal program, you receive breakfast for free or a reduced price of $.30.

REMINDER - the only snacks allowed at OMS are fruits or vegetables in their own skin. If students bring something different they will be allowed to eat the item during the lunch hour.

It's not too late to register for the District's elementary world language option, Fun Fluency, for the 2022-2023 school year.

Fun Fluency will offer before or after-school instruction in Spanish and French for all elementary students who sign up. The fee for the year is $295 for one day a week instruction throughout 25 weeks.

We encourage OMS families to join the ABC 25 foundation with a donation. If we have more than 25% of our families donate our school is awarded with a $2500 grant. In years past we have used this grant money for:

A new Ellison Die Cut Machine, innovative furniture for our hallway spaces, Sensory Pathways, and books to add to our LMC and classroom libraries that celebrate diversity, equity, and inclusion.
