FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL IS THURSDAY AUGUST 17TH 2023!

It's hard to believe, but we are fast approaching the end of the school year. All students have a minimum day schedule on the last day. of school on June 9th. We wish all of our Sixth Graders the very best as they embark on the journey to middle school, as we welcome our incoming Kindergarten classes. The Lorin Eden Cougars have spent the last year growing in all sorts of ways - academically, socially and emotionally. Even in the middle of our major construction project, our students remind us that there are chances to learn at every turn and flexibility is key! It has been a pleasure to join this great community.

Many thanks to the families who have served our School Site Council, parents who have kept our PTA alive this year, volunteered hours for school events, joined on field trips, and supported students at home as the most essential teachers. Parents - we NEED YOU, and call on you to join our school community groups to support our school in serving the community. We will be holding elections in the fall for vacancies on School Site Council and English Learner Advisory Committees, essential groups to the work of Lorin Eden School. Please contact Principal Valdez if you have any questions about the groups or how you can become more active at Lorin Eden!

Lorin Eden will be doing a summer inventory on all school Chromebooks and chargers. We will be collecting them during the last week of school. 6th grade students that are attending Ochoa, Winton, Cesar Chavez, Martin Luther King Jr. or Bret Harte Middle Schools should keep the Chromebook and charger for next year.

Supporting Literacy at Home

HUSD is thrilled to offer a variety of summer programs for our students. Let's make this a summer of learning and fun! Click below to see our elementary and secondary offerings. These programs are for Hayward Unified School District Students, and they are FREE.

Check out the summer resources and services offered by the Hayward Area Recreation District. The summer camps fill up quickly! They are available for kids ages 3.5- 17 years of age.

• Description: The Hayward Public Library has partnered with Cal State East Bay. Eden Youth and Family Center, Hayward Promise Neighborhood and 5 Sikh Seva Food Truck to bring FREE hot meals to South Hayward.

The 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month, the food truck will join Curbie, our bookmobile, at Eden Youth and Family Center, 680 W. Tennyson Road, in the parking lot from 2 - 4 p.m. to distribute meals and books to the community.

No pre-registration required.
