Let the Countdown Begin, 5, 4, 3, ...
We are eagerly counting down the days until our much-anticipated vacation and the end of the eventful year that is 2023. As we approach the conclusion of this year, we find ourselves overwhelmed with gratitude for the many blessings we have received. At the top of our list is the joyous return to our beloved school, nestled in the heart of Watertown. The reunification of our families in one location and the cessation of bussing have brought us great happiness.
This week, we had the pleasure of warmly welcoming parents into our school building for the Fourth Grade Poetry Expo. It was a delightful occasion where our talented students showcased their creativity and love for poetry. Additionally, our First Grade families were treated to a heartwarming event called Snowman Soup, which brought smiles to the faces of both young and a little older. And to top it all off, our incredible Performing Arts Department put on a mesmerizing Winter Concert that left everyone in awe.
We are truly fortunate to have such a vibrant and supportive community, and we are grateful for the opportunity to share these memorable experiences with all of you. As we approach the end of the year, let us cherish these moments and look forward to the exciting adventures that await us in the future.
With appreciation,
Stacy

Winter Concert
I wanted to share with you a few pictures from our fantastic Winter Concert that Lowell enjoyed today. The event was organized by our incredible performing arts department, and it was truly wonderful.
Fourth Grade Poetry Presentations
Thursday, our fourth grade students showcased and presented their poems as part of their literacy unit. This project was the culmination of their study of the book Love That Dog. We invited families to join us in school to witness their amazing work.
I want to emphasize that this unit was one of two pilot units chosen for evaluation. We are currently assessing two different instructional curricula, and this unit was a valuable part of that process.
Thank you for your support and participation in this event. We are proud of our students' achievements and grateful for your involvement in their education.
Winter Recess has Arrived
What you need to be ready for a fun winter!
When the snow starts falling, children are filled with excitement to venture outside. However, we understand that as parents, you may have concerns about the cold weather and its implications. To ensure that your children have a safe and enjoyable winter at school, we have some recommendations for items to send with them:
- A warm winter jacket
- A cozy hat
- Mittens or gloves to keep their hands toasty
- Sturdy boots for trudging through the snow
- Snow pants to keep them dry and warm
Our little ones absolutely adore playing in the snow, and we make sure to take advantage of every opportunity to go outside. By sending these items, you can ensure that your child has a comfortable recess experience. Additionally, we suggest that your child keeps an extra change of clothes in their cubby or backpack, just in case. Please remember to label all clothing with your child's name. This way, if any items end up in the lost and found, we can easily return them to you. Dressing in layers is also a great idea, as it helps your child stay comfortable in both indoor and outdoor temperature fluctuations.
We hope these suggestions help you prepare your child for a wonderful winter at school. If you have any further questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out. We're here to assist you in any way we can.
Lowell's Learning Garden Update
Garden Update:
A big THANK YOU to the crew who helped with planting bulbs after school this week! We look forward to seeing the flowers emerge in early spring.
We are collecting information for future garden volunteer opportunities (likely not until Spring). If you would like to be on the list, please complete the form below. It's not a commitment, just a way to stay in the loop about ways to help in the Lowell Learning Garden when the time arises.
Thank you!

Update from the DIB Council Concerning Culturefest
We are excited to announce Culturefest, an event that celebrates culture and identity. There will be four major components: table displays, food, performances, and a fashion show.
We kindly ask families to host a table showcasing artifacts and information that celebrate their culture and identity. This can include representing your country of origin, religion, or any other aspect of your identity that you would like to share.
We also invite you to bring a special dish that represents your family's culinary traditions to share with others at the event.
If you or someone you know is interested in performing or playing music, please let us know. The event will run for an hour and a half, and we would love to have your talent showcased for approximately 15 minutes.
In addition, we are introducing a new addition to the event - a fashion show. We encourage students and adults to participate and showcase the richness of their culture through fashion. We would also love to hear the significance of the attire and its history.
We look forward to celebrating and embracing the diversity within our community at Culturefest.
Our Climate and Culture Team is also supporting the event throughout the week. More to come shortly!
