CR ED WEEK
The staff at Goodnoe Elementary School and I invite parents to join us in observing CR Education Week – from January 17th through January 20th.
The following is the CR Education Week schedule for the week of January 16th, 2023:
- Monday, January 16, 2023: No School
All visitors must complete the form below in order to pre-register for the dates and times you will be visiting Goodnoe Elementary School. Providing this information to the school team is very helpful. It will assist in the teachers' planning and allow the office staff to have a visitor's badge ready for you (if you have your information in our Raptor system). Upon arrival at the school, you will be required to check in and retrieve a visitor's badge. If you have never received a visitor's badge in the past, please be sure to bring your driver's license with you.
In order to maintain the learning process for each child and our daily school procedures, we request that visitors observe the following guidelines:
- Visitors may only visit the class in which their child is a student. They are not permitted to visit other areas within the building during their visit.
- Each classroom will have chairs for you to sit and observe the teaching/learning process.
- Unless invited by a teacher to participate in what the class is doing, please limit your visit to observing the process.
- Kindly mute cell phones and refrain from all cell phone usage including picture/video taking. This will minimize distractions to instruction as well as comply with parent requests that their child’s photograph not be taken.
- Preschool children should not be brought to school during a classroom observation. Please make arrangements to leave preschool children with a sitter. They’ll soon get their chance to visit regularly!
- Remember, this is a time to observe the educational process, not to discuss your child’s performance with the teacher. If you would like to discuss your child’s progress, please make an appointment for a conference.
- Due to supervision concerns, parents may not attend lunch or recess periods.
We look forward to sharing this week with you!

CR CARES SERVICE PROJECT UNTIL 1/11
In conjunction with the upcoming Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday, we are pleased to announce our 17th annual CR CARES DAY Project. We will again capture the sense of giving, community, and service that has become synonymous with Council Rock by collecting items for identified agencies in Bucks County, such as the homeless shelter and food cupboards that serve Council Rock families.
We are asking students who would like, to bring in selected items (as listed below by grade level) to be dropped off on the tables set up in the main lobby. Then on Monday, January 16, 2023 (MLK Day), sixth and eighth-grade volunteers will meet at Holland Middle School from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM to assemble care packages for delivery. Our collection of items will continue until January 11th. Thank you in advance for your generosity!
If you have any questions about donations for this project please contact Stephanie Rothrock at srothrock@crsd.org. Thank you in advance for your generosity!

Sixth Grade - T.E.A.M. (formerly DARE) instruction
In conjunction with the Newtown Police Department, sixth graders will begin TEAM instruction the week of January 17th. The Teaching, Educating, And Mentoring (T.E.A.M.) School Liaison Program is a school-based “law related” education program taught by specifically trained law enforcement officers. T.E.A.M. is a proactive effort to make schools and communities safer, promote responsible citizenship, and encourage positive character traits. The T.E.A.M. School Liaison Program’s goal is to unite educators, students, and law enforcement to play an integral part in promoting awareness regarding topics such as laws, consequences, drugs, social media and bullying. The philosophy is that while working together as a team we can create relationships and be united in protecting children. Each lesson is approximately 45-60 minutes in length and will be instructed in a consecutive sequence (one time per week for 8 weeks).
From the Library...
We are excited to bring local teacher and author, Debbie Murphy, to our school for K-3 students on January 24th. If you are interested in purchasing her book, Jackie and the Mona Lisa, to get signed by the author, please click here for the order form and to learn more about her visit. If you already sent in a form, you do not need to send in another form. Orders are due by January 9, 2023. Thank you, as always, for supporting book joy in our students and community.
Notes from the Music Room
We are proud to announce that this year's school play is Willy Wonka Jr. Our cast members are hard at work preparing a scrumdiddlyumtious performance! Mark your calendars for a 5pm show on March 28th and a 7pm show on March 29th.

*Please note GES will be celebrating this district wide day a day earlier on 1/11 due to a schedule conflict.
School Breakfast and Lunch Information
The January breakfast and lunch menus are available on the homepage of the GES website, the menus website and buttons below. To avoid confusion, be sure to review the meal options with your child each day.
DOGS/PETS ON SCHOOL GROUNDS
When escorting students to and from school, please do not bring pets on school grounds or into the school building. Many of our children have pet allergies or are afraid of animals; therefore, the presence of animals in school or on school grounds is prohibited. Some classes at Goodnoe Elementary School do participate in the Nor’Wester Reading Dogs program, so on occasion you may see dogs visiting. These dogs are specially trained and licensed to work in the schools with students. No other animals are permitted on school property during school hours. Please refer to our board policy for more information on animals in school policy 718 https://go.boarddocs.com/pa/coun/Board.nsf/vpublic?open#
SCHOOL WIDE POSITIVE BEHAVIOR SUPPORT
During the past few weeks, your child’s class has been reviewing the SW-PBIS (School Wide- Positive Behavior Interventions & Support) school expectations. The lessons included a class discussion, modeling and practicing of respectful, responsible, and safe behaviors in the locations listed on the school-wide matrix. Your child’s class also learned about the voice levels that are expected for the different locations. Please take some time to review the matrix and voice level chart with your child. Our school website has a SW-PBIS link with more specific information regarding the structure of Goodnoe’s School Wide Positive Interventions & Support system. Check out more information at the links below.
