Managing Student Anxiety with Resilient Health
Don't avoid things just because they make a child anxious:
Helping children avoid the things they are afraid of will make them feel better in the short term, but it reinforces the anxiety over the the long run.
A lot of caring parents can think that helping children to avoid their fears is helpful, because we see the reduction in anxiety in the short term. But what this does is send the message to kids that they can't handle this situation, that they need to continue to avoid it. "The message we want to send it that this is something we know they're brave enough to handle, even if it feels scary," says Grace Berman, LCSW.
Around Campus
Health Science in P.E.
Students are learning the importance of the skeletal system. Students are using their longest and strongest bone, the femur, to help them move the scooter and collect the bones to build a life size skeleton.
Art Masterpiece
Mr. Metrakos' class learned about photographer, Ansel Adams. They created their own black and white landscapes.
Go Diamondbacks!
Mrs. Alcala's and Mrs. Taylor's first grade classes sang, "Take Me Out the the Ballgame" to cheer on the Arizona Diamondbacks in the World Series.
Mrs. Nichols' class made posters to wish the Diamondbacks good luck!
Mason is rooting for the Diamondbacks too!

Tax Credit Donations
If you are able to make your tax contributions early in the year, your donation would be greatly appreciated and give us a jump start on some of our extracurricular activities. Extracurricular activities include Running Club, Art Club, Choir, Theater Club, STUCO, Science Camp and may other activites.
Thank you for supporting your child and our school!
Tax Credit Basics…
A tax credit donation is a full refund, not a deduction. Contributions eligible for a tax credit are donated directly to schools, not to the state or school district. To participate or learn more, follow the link listed below to donate online or you can complete the enclosed form and submit your contribution at your convenience.

Arizona Law ARS 43-1089.01 enables taxpayers a tax credit contribution of up to $400.00 per year if filing status is “Married, filing Joint Return;” $200.00 per calendar year if filing status is “Single of Head of Household;” and $200 per calendar year if filing status is “Married filing separate returns.” These contributions fund extracurricular activities in public schools and greatly impact our school community and our students.
