VALUE of the MONTH: Respect
Principal's Message
Dear SGB Families,
Good evening. My apologies for the delay in sending this message to you this evening. My family went to our church's 6:30pm Mass this evening and honestly, I've been reflecting on (really wrestling with) what our pastor shared with us and trying to find something from his Homily that will address what's going on in our world right now. Usually, I walk away and have always felt a lightbulb go off when I needed guidance.
Sadly, I still don't have the right words. I'm sure I'm not alone.
As Fr. Bob (my pastor) said, "Our world is in terrible shape right now and the coming days will only begin to shed light on how much destruction will occur." Then, together we prayed the "Our Father."
It's easier to not think about Israel and Gaza right now, because it's so far geographically from us, but our Jewish brothers and sisters are gutted. Innocent lives have been taken on both sides. My sister is Jewish. (It's a long story, but she was born Jewish and then was raised by her Nanny, my Irish Catholic Mom, and is literally a hybrid of Jewish/Catholic.) She came over today and you could see the pain on her face. Her empathy for all the lives lost was palpable sitting at my kitchen table. She shared how she can't stop watching the news and seeing the images.
She is not alone.
Many of our friends and neighbors are hurting. If we have true empathy and compassion, we too are hurting for their losses.
SGB will continue keeping all those suffering right now in our prayers. We will be planning a 'dress down day' in the coming days to raise funds to help those in need. We will offer support to families as you navigate these topics with your children. Below are some resources from ADAPP if you need them.
Please continue to check in on your children and be mindful of the images they are viewing and as always, please take a moment to pray together.
God bless,
Ms. Clarke

Calling All Readers!
The famous Scholastic Book Fair will be open at St. Gregory's starting Wednesday October 18! Our students will have an opportunity to shop during the school week, and the Fair will also be open during our Fall Festival on Saturday, October 21 from 12-3pm.
This year, please consider using Scholastic's new e-wallet system, which allows you to load a set amount of money onto an account for your child so they do not have to bring cash or checks to school. You can also invite family and friends to add money onto the e-wallet for your child.
Details about how to use e-wallet are attached, and can be found at our school's Scholastic homepage here: https://www.scholastic.com/bf/stgregorybarbarigoschool1
See you at the Fair!
