Rain, rain, rain, all week long. We're so proud of our Falcon students, team, and families for persevering this week in spite of the severe weather. Thankfully, we have sunshine in the forecast all next week and the drainage woes have been solved.

This week, we welcomed three new members to team Fletcher. First, Mr. Strom, is our new VAPA Visual Arts teacher. Students will learn the foundations of visual arts with him every other week on Tuesdays. We are also thrilled to welcome Mr. Jackson as our new Guidance Assistant. He will be working closely with our counselor, Ms. Hinch, and Family Services Assistant, Mrs. Arana, to support student attendance and social/emotional needs. Lastly, Mrs. Finley, formerly of PrimeTime, joined the team as a Paraeducator Independence Facilitator (PIF). She'll be working with students who have IEP's in 1st grade.

Next week is our Valentine's Family Dance on Thursday the 15th from 6-8PM in the auditorium. Families, we need your help! If you're able to volunteer, please contact PTA Treasurer, Jasmin, at: jymartinez_07@yahoo.com. ALL STUDENTS ATTENDING THE DANCE MUST HAVE ONE ADULT FROM THEIR HOUSEHOLD PRESENT WITH THEM. Admission is FREE. Refreshments and concessions will be available for sale during the dance.

Kids Heart Challenge is well underway. Several students have already received their first prizes for being Heart Heroes. Check out the video below to see what the top earning student gets to do :)

This week's Student of the Week is María in Mr. León's class. María is a well-mannered student who always follows the school expectations. María is an English Learner with the disposition and willingness of learning more every day. She loves mathematics and aspires to become a doctor one day. María demonstrates genuine effort during class discussions. Recently, she provided a correct verbal response to a multi step word problem using academic vocabulary. María, thank you for being such an incredible Falcon and thanks for exemplifying what it means to be a leader at Fletcher Elementary School!
