February 5th Staff Professional Development Day
On Monday, February 5th, the staff participated in a full day of professional development. The primary goal of the day was to develop knowledge of implementing strategies and techniques that deepen student learning. Topics included: Ways to Increase Rigor through Questioning, Build Thinking Classrooms, and Elevating Student Engagement. We also discussed the importance of reading aloud to students and finding ways to incorporate different cultures and backgrounds into our classrooms. We had many of our very own teachers sharing their expertise and experiences with their colleagues. And to keep our teachers up to date with technology, we also offered a few sessions about Artificial Intelligence (AI), including conversations about the benefits and pitfalls. After all of that learning, we closed out our day with a inspirational message from Mr. Gerry Brooks about the importance of culture and climate, and about the impact a teacher can have on his or her students and their families.
