Student Achievement
Ms. Culmone's Kindergarten class worked on their interactive writing skills! They wrote the next page of their story and drew an illustration to go with it!
Mrs. Guerra's second grade class 'Get's by with a little help from their friends'
Mrs. Stuhltrager's class is enjoying learning about money! They have been singing songs to help us remember our coins and playing "Buy It Right' in small groups to help us use money to buy items!
Ms. Russnak's 3rd grade class had the privilege of creating poinsettia centerpieces for their December service project! They were used to decorate the Salvation Army Christmas dinner and were really well received! Their class was asked by the organizer of the event after their turkey decorations were such a big hit! The kids had a fun time creating, but the even bigger impact came from them knowing they made someone's day a little brighter. Keep up the great work!!
Mrs. Russnak's 3rd grade class worked on a culminating activity for their graphing topic in math! They transformed their class into a donut shop! The students were given the title of 'owners' of the shop, they wore name badges/hats, and they had to complete 10 graphing challenges. Upon completion of all 10 challenges, they were rewarded with a certificate and a donut eraser! They had a blast!!
Mrs. Dempsey's 2nd grade PEP students are using their knowledge of electrical circuits to create games. Some students opted to design games where wrong moves turn on the light bulb. Other students wired their light bulbs to turn on when the correct answer or move was accomplished. Their games have exciting names such as "The Jungle," "Llama Lights," "Roblox World 3000," “Magnificent Math," "PokéQuiz," and many more!
Climate and Culture
We loved celebrating 'National Hug Day' here at Slaybaugh!
It was a dizzy week in Ms Katie’s class as we turned up the organ music, rolled up the rug, put on our ice skates and went ice skating! Our centers this week include our Winter Sport Vocabulary and ice fishing for numbers!!! After spinning and sliding, we warmed up with some hot chocolate! The Students followed a visual recipe as well as learned new vocabulary related to ingredients, temperature, and materials/equipment. As they enjoyed their yummy treat, they answered comprehension questions related to our activity.
