From Doan's Desk....
Monarch High School is piloting a therapy dog program in the counseling office starting on February 1st. Our newest Coyote, Greta, is a 4 year old Bernedoodle who has undergone extensive training and is a certified therapy dog. Greta will accompany Ms. Coppejans in the Post Grad Center of the counseling office on Thursdays. She will have an electronic collar and she will be leashed at all times. Since Greta is a Bernedoodle, she is hypoallergenic and should be less triggering to students with allergies. The goal of having Greta in the counseling office is to meet the emotional needs of Monarch High School students and staff. Research shows that therapy dogs are an effective means to improve academic performance, enhance psychological functioning, and have a positive effect on student behaviors. Please welcome Greta to the Monarch family!
