DISD Parents Learn how to Defend Themselves
Parent volunteers at Salazar Elementary had an opportunity to learn how to defend themselves and keep from becoming victims thanks to officers from our very own Donna ISD Police Department. Cpl. Rodriguez, along with Officers Gutierrez and Linan, treated parent volunteers to a Basic Self-Defense Course where the parents were shown elbow and knee strike techniques. The officers also demonstrated how to target vital areas such as the throat and eyes by using their thumbs and talked about the importance of keeping a distance and when to close in. Thank you to our officers for providing these crucial self-defense lessons to our parents. If your campus or department is interested in participating in self-defense training, contact DISD PD to schedule a brief session at 956-464-1735.
