From the Administration
Dear Petty Families,
What a fantastic first week of school! I'm thrilled to report that our students had a successful start, kicking off the year with enthusiasm and a commitment to learning. Over the past week, they participated in PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) stations, where they learned the expectations for different areas of our school, including the lunchroom, recess, bathrooms, and hallways. Tomorrow, they’ll continue this important work by learning the expectations for the bus, with a hands-on experience aboard an actual bus.
PBIS is a framework we use to promote positive behavior and create a safe and supportive environment for all students. At our school, we focus on the three B's: Be Safe, Be Respectful, and Be Responsible. To encourage and reward these behaviors, we use an online platform, called PBIS Rewards, to award students with points, known as "Paws," for following expectations. These Paws can be spent in our PBIS School Store or entered into schoolwide raffles, adding an extra layer of excitement and motivation. We encourage you to talk with your child about the three Bs and to celebrate their efforts in earning Paws throughout the year!
I've included a very short video that explains a little about the PBIS Rewards app. To connect to your child's PBIS Rewards account, please reach out to your child's teacher to get the access information.
Respectfully,
Joanna Gerritsen, WC Petty Principal
and
Kristina Franchi, WC Petty Assistant Principal

Boo Bash
We need you!!
Now that the year has officially started, we need your help! One opportunity is to be part of the Boo Bash Planning Committee. We will be meeting a couple of times over the next month as we work to plan our first big event. Our first meeting is this Thursday, September 7 at 6:30.
If you are interested in joining the planning committee, please email us at pettyboosters@gmail.com
Would you like to volunteer during our Boo Bash? We need volunteers to help with set up, during the event by running a station/activity, and with clean-up. Check out the available time slots!
Volunteers Needed
Mrs. Jasinski is looking for assistance with the PBIS Store each month. She needs a few volunteers to come in one day a month, pack bags of purchased items from the school store, and drop them off in classrooms to be distributed to students. The first day of the school store will be on Friday, September 8. We would need a few volunteers to come in one day during the week of September 11 to pack the bags. If you are able to assist, please click on the link below to sign up.
I have included all of the weeks that are needed for the year. If you can help out more than one month, please click on as many as you would like. A separate email will be sent prior to the week to set up a day that week. Any questions, please email us at pettyboosters@gmail.com.
