June has arrived! As excited as everyone is for the summer break we need to remember we need to complete the school year and this includes the completion of course work, preparation for Provincial Achievement Tests, Diploma Exams and year end finals. With this in mind we ask that students come each day and be prepared to do their best. This preparation includes: getting 8 hours of sleep, eating healthy, hydrating, going outside and getting fresh air, having face to face conversation with others, reducing screen time and having a positive growth mindset. The exam schedule is located in this newsletter, school website, teacher google classrooms and a paper copy has also been sent home.

As we complete the school year we also take time to celebrate 🙂 On June 14th, we will be holding our Caught Being a Titan celebration at 11:00 am in the Titan Commons and hosting our Year End assembly that day at 1:50 pm in the gym. As well, we will be holding our Grades 5-8 awards on June 23 from 1:00-2:00 pm in the gymnasium. Tofield School has a long list of Titans to celebrate this school year in the areas of academics, citizenship, and sports!

Another component of June are the farewells to staff who are retiring, transferring, and/or moving on to other ventures. We wish a farewell and all the best to:

We would like to take the opportunity to express a sincere thank-you to the Tofield School Council for all their support this year, and to all parents for working hard to support your child in their learning journey. Thank you to our students for providing us with their input on course offering for the upcoming school year. We use this input to ensure we are providing what our students need to earn their diploma and support their interests.

If you have not received your timetable or cannot access it, please let us know.

Elementary and Junior High Students will receive an email from their homeroom teachers by the end of August to avoid any confusion on the first day of school (September 5th).

Bookings for course changes for Grades 10-12 can be made over the phone by calling 780-662-3133 (emails work too).

Congratulations to all the graduates in the class of 2023! And thank you to all staff, students, and parents who helped make our grad day so special.

The grade 6 classes built and tested parachutes as part of their Flight unit in Science. They had parameters for the canopy, shroud lines, and load. 3rd place: Tyler Dawe, 2nd place: Paityn Reiser, 1st place: Aiden Zacharias. Congratulations to the winners and thanks to all the students who participated!

On Friday, June 2nd, grade 6 students participated in a glider competition in the gym. They built paper gliders as part of their Flight unit in Science to test surface controls. The winners for the distance contest were: 3rd-Brody Pope O'Shea, 2nd- Amelia Kyle, 1st-Tanner Dawe. The winners for the stunt contest were: 3rd-Eric McCormick, 2nd-Jake St. Laurent, 1st-Mason Hawkins. Thanks to all the students for participating, and congratulations to the winners!

The grade 6 students went to the Legislature in Edmonton for a field trip on Monday, June 5. This field trip complements and relates directly to the social studies curriculum.

Students went for a tour, watched a 4D movie and participated in a mock debate. It was an educational and enjoyable experience.

Class 5K is working on soapstone carvings of Inukshuks from the Arctic region for social studies.

On May 30, CN Police gave a presentation to grades 5-9 on train safety.

On June 2, Tofield School had its annual Show and Shine. Congratulations to Cody Kuflay for cleanest and flashiest car, Daphne Brockhurst for dirtiest car, Jordyn Charlesworth for loudest car, Kody Kristenson for best sound system, and Shasta Cherrin for best beater and best overall.

There was also a staff versus grade 12s kickball game after the Show and Shine with staff winning the game 15-4.

It's been an exciting Track and Field season with students from our Sr High team competing in zones and areas!

Congratulations to our Jr Track and Field team for getting top spot at the Div 2 meet in Camrose on May 29 with 559 points!

Tofield also placed fourth at the Regional Track Meet in Camrose on June 6!

Our elementary students also had a great track and field day on Friday, May 26!

This month we kicked off Pride Week from June 5-9th with optional activities being held at lunch. Pride month is a time of action and celebration across Canada to celebrate diversity and inclusion of all students including those who identify as LGBTQ2S+.

Tofield is a school community who values providing safe and caring spaces for all students. We were very pleased our students who chose to take part and show their support and Titan Pride. Students had lots of fun playing trivia, scavenger hunting, creating positive messages in chalk art, making Fruit Loop bracelets, guessing the candy contest, Pride Bingo and wearing their rainbow colors.
