Twin Oaks Elementary
Family Newsletter
May 31, 2022
Dear Twin Oaks Families,
4J Parent and Family Engagement and Partnership Survey: As of today only 3 Twin Oaks families have completed the district survey that was shared in last week's newsletter. Our school will receive the survey results for Twin Oaks Elementary. The staff is very interested in what our families share in this survey. We are currently working on our school's Continuous Improvement Plan and the information from the survey will be important as we develop goals for our school. Please take a few minutes and complete the survey. It is important.
iPad, Chargers and Charging Cables Need to be Returned: We are collecting all iPads as well as the chargers and charging cables that were assigned to the students. Most of the iPads have been collected but we are missing many chargers. Chargers are expensive for us to replace. Please send back any technology that belongs to the school with your student.
TOSA Fundraiser: Our TOSA group has organized another fundraiser at Tap and Growler. If you purchase food and/or beverages between Sunday, June 5th and Thursday, June 9th, Tap and Growler will donate 15% of the sale to our school. We appreciate our local businesses that support schools in our area.
Volunteering at Twin Oaks: There have been fewer opportunities to volunteer at Twin Oaks since the beginning of the pandemic. As restrictions are lifted we will be able to welcome volunteers into our school, classrooms and library. Our hope is that in September we will be open to all volunteers. Many of you do not have a current volunteer application completed and the required documentation submitted. If you are considering volunteering in the future please review the information on the 4J website. If you have any questions please reach out to Ms. Jacelyn or myself.

Eugene 4J Parent and Family Engagement and Partnership Survey
Thank you for taking a few minutes to complete this survey. Your feedback will be used to inform our efforts to continually improve our district, our schools, and our partnership with parents to help students succeed.
If you have more than one student attending school in Eugene School District 4J and have had a different experience for different students, please fill out a separate survey for each student. That provides the schools with information specific to each student’s individual educational experience.
If you have questions or input regarding this survey, please call the Instruction Department at 541-790-7550. Once again, thank you for your time and input.

What is AVID Elementary?
This is our 2nd year as an AVID Elementary school. There are only 6 AVID Elementary schools in the Eugene 4J School District - Awbrey Park, Chávez, Spring Creek, McCornack, Edison and Twin Oaks Elementary.
By teaching and reinforcing academic behaviors and higher-level thinking at a young age, AVID Elementary teachers create a ripple effect in later grades. Elementary students develop the academic habits they will need to be successful in middle school, high school, and college, in an age-appropriate and challenging way. Children learn about organization, study skills, communication, and self-advocacy. AVID Elementary students take structured notes and answer and ask high-level questions that go beyond routine answers.
Our teachers are strong AVID educators and our students are learning valuable skills. Below are photos of some of the tools and strategies that are being taught.
