The mission of West Hills High School is to graduate critical thinkers and problem-solvers who contribute positively to society as productive, responsible citizens.

West Hills is closed to the public each day November 20-24 for Thanksgiving Break. There will be no in person services until we reopen on November 28th at 8am.

We only have approximately 3 more weeks of regular school before final exams, when semester grades are closed and recorded on transcripts.

Given how quickly information spreads in the age of social media, it’s completely understandable when students, parents, and families become concerned when they hear on social media about potential threats to school safety. We take every potential threat seriously.

Whenever we learn of a potential threat, our school and District leadership work in collaboration with our law enforcement partners to investigate and assess it. To aid us in this effort, if you hear of a potential safety issue on our campus, please call the school office (619-956-0400)
before deciding to drive to campus.

While understandable and well-intended, a flurry of non-students arriving on campus can unintentionally contribute to panic and alarm, thereby making it more challenging for us to investigate the threat, establish calm, and keep everyone safe. Of course, we always encourage all members of our school community to make our school office (619-956-0400) or our District office (619-644-8000) aware of any alarming social media posts so that we can look into them and respond appropriately. Thank you.

In order to maintain clean and accessible restrooms for all students, the following procedures are to be followed:

1. Use the restroom

2. Wash/Sanitize your hands

3. Immediately exit the restroom

4. NO LOITERING

Failure to exit the restroom in a timely manner is inconsiderate to other West Hills students needing to use the restroom. Loitering at any time while in the restroom will be considered suspicious activity and students and their belongings are subject to search (BP 5145.12).

Attention Student Drivers:

Any student wanting to park on campus (this includes Seniors who want to purchase a parking spot) needs to show proof of attending one "Start Smart" class with a parent. This course needs to be completed ONCE in high school.

West Hills has set up three additional Start Smart sessions for this school year in our theater:

• December 11, 2023 from 6:00-8:00PM

• January & February dates will be announced next month by email

This workshop is for all students interested in a career in the medical professions. We will explore a variety of exciting healthcare fields as well as help you learn what you can do now to prepare for your future in healthcare.
