Happy Holidays!
Dear Columbia Crest Families,
So much excitement in the air as we approach the holiday season. Leading into winter break can be some of the most fun days for kiddos to be at school. We hope your child(ren) can attend each day he or she is not sick. As we enter the fourth month of this school year, it's a nice time to review a few procedures:
Water Bottles
We ask that each student has their own reusable water bottle to fill with water throughout the day. We have a water bottle refilling station that students can use. Please contact our office if you need support purchasing a water bottle for your child.
Pick Up Reminders
1. Please arrive to the parking lot by 2:10 each day for pick up.
2. Please get out of your vehicle and stand where our staff can see you. This will help us to ensure a quick and smooth dismissal.
Once staff sees you outside of your vehicle, they will walk your students to you in the parking lot.
This will help ensure that we keep everyone safe in the parking lot.
Proper Clothing
Please ensure your child leaves the house with a warm coat every morning. We typically begin to see snow and frozen temperatures during December and want all students to be prepared for the elements. Please let our office know if you need help getting a warm winter coat for your child.
Wishing you a joyful holiday season.
Respectfully,
Allison Shew

Brownie Drive
Helping to Make Christmas a Little Sweeter!
Instead of having the traditional Student Council Food Drive, we are changing it up a bit. After consulting with the Family Agency, we learned that they are hoping to add brownie mixes to every Christmas box they create. Columbia Crest can help by donating brownie mixes. Our goal is 100! Lots of stores are having sales, so please pick up a box on your next shopping trip. The class that brings in the most brownie mixes will of course earn a "brownie party" courtesy of Mrs. Fountain. Please help make the holidays sweeter for families who would enjoy this treat. Our BROWNIE MIX DRIVE will be from December 6th through the 10th.
Sincerely,
Your Student Council

November Highlight
Due to the end of quarter and the Thanksgiving holiday, each group only got to meet one time this month. Both groups learned about the Design process by completing a Turkey race STEM challenge. The slowest turkeys were eaten for Thanksgiving dinner! In both groups, we learned about multiple intelligences and students took a survey to determine which intelligences they display most strongly. This led into an introduction and start of their personal passion projects, where they get to choose a project to focus on for themselves at the start of the new year. In the spirit of Thanksgiving, we completed gratitude activities for important people in our lives. In middle school, we also finished up parts of our article review for the Frontier for Young Minds Journal. In elementary, we did a lesson on synonyms as part of our gratitude activity.
