OPEN LIVESTOCK COMMITTEE MEETING
There will be an open livestock committee meeting on Monday, March 21st @ 6 p.m. for an opportunity to share your opinion on a few things that the Council has requested feedback on:
- 4-H Beef fitting contest
- 4-H Age Bucket Calf - extend the age limit from 8 β 11 to 8 β 13.

NDA Advises Poultry Owners to watch for Avian Influenza
The Nebraska Department of Agriculture (NDA) is advising poultry owners to protect their flocks against avian influenza by closely monitoring their birds for signs of the disease and by maintaining strict biosecurity practices. Highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) is very contagious and can cause severe illness and/or sudden death in domestic birds.

2022 National 4-H Annual Index Study
Nebraska 4-H is participating in the National 4-H Annual Index, a national 4-H study designed to help us evaluate the positive youth development experience and 4-H program impacts experienced by youth across the country. If your youth are in the target age range (13-18 years old) and were enrolled in 4-H in 2021, you will receive an e-mail invitation from Nebraska 4-H at the email address provided in your enrollment profile.

2022 4-H Volunteer Awards
Nebraska 4-H is now accepting nominations for a new awards program to recognize the outstanding contributions of 4-H volunteers across the state.
The nomination period runs through March 15. Nominations can be submitted by any 4-H member, family, supporter, or Extension staff member. Nominees must fit the award categories and can be a volunteer for any Nebraska 4-H experience. Some examples may include 4-H club leader, project leader, junior leader, county or State Fair volunteer, special interest volunteer, such as robotics or shooting sports, afterschool club volunteer or 4-H camp volunteer. 4HOnline 2.0 is now open. You will use the same login credentials you had with 4Honline 1.0 You may be required to change your password. The link for 4HOnline2.0 is
4-H volunteers are required to be screened every 5 years and Cass County is due this year! There is a fee of $5.00. Be sure to follow the instructions before submitting your registration.

We will be using the new features of 4HOnline2.0, to register for events, workshops, trainings, etc. This will be now be done using the events tab. Once your enrollment has be approved you will be able to sign up for your choice of activities.

4-H Spring Rabbit Show March 19 - Lancaster Event Center
The 4-H Spring Rabbit Show will be held Saturday, March 19, 9 a.m. at the Lancaster Event Center Fairgrounds β Exhibit Hall, 84th & Havelock, Lincoln. Registration 7:30β8:30 a.m. Open to all youth ages 8β18, with a Clover Kids class for youth ages 5β7. This is a great opportunity for youth to learn from other 4-Hβers about where to purchase a show-quality rabbit for a 4-H project, and to learn and practice showmanship. INNOVATIVE YOUTH CORN CHALLENGE
Nebraska Extension will execute this evolving, innovative, and in-depth program in 2022, which will be the eleventh year creating agricultural, science-informed graduates in the agricultural industry.
Prizes for participation in this project include 1st place - $1,000, 2nd place - $500, 3rd place -$250, βExtra Mileβ Award $200, CORN Communications Award $200 and $50 for completion of the project. In addition, each team receives a crop scouting kit valued at over $200, plot sign and the opportunity to engage with UNL agronomic professionals through βask an agronomistβ sessions.

- To register for in person YQCA training, you will first need to enroll or reenroll in 4HOnline 2.0. Once your enrollment is approved, log into your account, click the "events" tab on the left side of the screen, then click "Register for an event" tab, then click on the date you wish to attend the training. - Free training is for Cass County 4-H members only.
- YQCA training is being paid for by the Cass County 4-H Council! Thank you 4-H Council!
