Temporary closure for Larkin Road railroad crossing
The Larkin Road railroad crossing, just north of Scyene Road is scheduled to be temporarily closed on Aug. 7 and Aug. 8 for maintenance. Traffic will be detoured to Clay Road.
Temporary change in Animal Control's weekend response
The Animal Shelter will only respond to emergencies on weekends until further notice. When this changes, the Town will provide an update.

Book Club is back at the Library!
The Library is excited to announce the return of its Book Club!
The first meeting will be on Wednesday, Sept. 21 at 5:30 p.m. The first book discussed will be Two Good Dogs by Susan Wilson. Refreshments and coffee will be served. Copies of the book are available at the Library to borrow, and will be available for sale after the event.
Additional meetings will be held on the third Wednesday of each month at 5:30 p.m. Download the full schedule below.
Citizens Police Academy: Registration is open!
The Sunnyvale Police Department has officially launched a Citizen’s Police Academy (CPA) for citizens who want to experience a hands-on learning environment. In the CPA, you will be provided information from Police instructors on many different topics that are involved in the day to day operations.
- CPA is FREE!
- 14 week program; The program begins Sept. 15 and will run through December. Classes are held on Thursday evenings from 6:30 - 9:30 p.m.
- Available to all who live or work in the Town of Sunnyvale.
Registration is now open for those wanting to join CPA. For additional information and/or to fill out an application, visit www.townofsunnyvale.org/CPA .

Collins Road
The Collins Road maintenance project is substantially complete. The Town is working with the contractor to schedule a date for striping. Once scheduled, the Town will provide an update.

The Sunnyvale Chamber of Commerce is hosting breakfast and networking at Town Hall on Tuesday, Aug. 16 from 8 - 9 a.m. with Jeff Jones, Sunnyvale's new Town Manager.

Burn ban in effect
A burn ban is currently in effect for Dallas County.
Sunnyvale Fire/Rescue Department has halted the issuance of burn permits until further notice.
Recreational burning is not recommended until an improvement in weather conditions is seen. Please take caution with fire pits to avoid blowing embers and refrain from leaving fire pits unattended.

Be a part of Texas’ Broadband Development Plan!
The Texas Broadband Development Office encourages Texas residents to complete a short survey on their experience with broadband connectivity and use at their residence.
The results of this survey will be used to write a statewide broadband plan with the goal to achieve broadband access for all aspects of Texas communities (residents, businesses, education, workforce, health-medical, nonprofits).
