LIS Tiger Talk
October 27, 2023
Principal's Message
Tiger Families,
Thanks to all the students, staff and community members who attended our Loveland Showcase Night. LIS shared information about Jr. Hope Squad, Mindfulness, Walk to Water, Media Club, Book Club Food Truck, ESOL, Strings, Tiger Brain Trust, MINT PTSA and more. It is great to learn about all the amazing things happening throughout the district.
A Shout Out to Mr. Conner and 6th grade Student Council for planning our 2nd Annual LIS Trunk or Treat. We had beautiful weather and a big turn out to kick off the Halloween weekend:)
Speaking of Halloween...yes, students and staff can wear their Halloween costumes to school on Tuesday, October 31st. Please avoid bloody, gory, scary costumes that may scare some of our students. Masks and inflatables will only be allowed during Tiger Time, then students will be asked to put it in their lockers. No weapons or accessories of any kind. Our Tiger Brain Trust is planning a costume contest during Tiger Time. Best Costume Awards will be given for each homeroom and grade level.
Go Tigers! Beat Kings!

Bus Safety Reminder
Loveland Tiger Familes,
Our highest priority is for the safety of our students and staff, which includes the ride on the bus to and from school each day. As the month of October winds down, we wanted to remind everyone of some bus safety precautions, especially because October represents National School Bus Safety Week.
Here are some safety tips to keep in mind to review with your bus rider (student reminders):
Be at the bus stop before the scheduled pickup time.
Never chase a bus, this can be dangerous as the driver may not be able to see you.
Remain at the safety spot until the bus has pulled away.
Students should report any safety concerns to the driver immediately.
Here are some parent/guardian reminders:
Contact the appropriate administrator (listed below) for any changes for your bus rider. Students are not permitted to board buses they are not designated to ride.
Parents should NOT approach the bus driver and/or board a school bus at the bus stop to discuss any concerns.
All safety concerns and discussions should take place with the Transportation Department Director or the appropriate building administrator. Listed below is the contact information to report any bus concerns.

Gifted Testing Offered at LIS
The state of Ohio requires that school districts provide an identification procedure for gifted/talented students. However, per the Ohio Department of Education, school districts are not required to serve. Click HERE to learn more about how Loveland serves gifted students. Loveland offers full grade testing in second and fourth grades. If students/parents/teachers wish to refer a student for gifted testing outside of the full-grade testing options, referral forms are available from the LIS School Counseling office. The referral testing options will take place on Monday, November 20, 2023 and again in February 2024. If you would like to refer your child for fall testing, the form is due to the LIS school counselor no later than November 9, 2023. Please email Robin Purdin at Purdinro@lovelandschools.org for more information.
